After the world ended quite by surprise, Ash Ketchum has been sent back in time to the very beginning of his journey with a simple mission - prevent that from happening again.
Naturally, he's also going to go around Kanto solving problems, recruiting Pokémon and challenging the Pokémon League, because it's... sort of what he does at this point.This is a version of the original fic with the opening chapters updated and revised as of March 2023. Summary
The kingdom of Hatchetfield is a normal one. Nothing too grand or great, nothing too horrible, fairly average, or at least it was. Years and years ago, a particular king wasn’t satisfied with the blandness of his lands so he summoned six great and powerful demons. He thought he could control them, use their power for his own. But he was wrong. The six evils quickly got out of hand, spreading chaos and pain to every corner of the kingdom.
One of the demons changed, however. She met a child, one with magic in her blood, one who used that magic for good. Once the demon realized what she could use her own power for, she decided to be good. When she tried to convince her brothers to do the same, they thought her weak and tried to destroy her.
The redeemed demon knew she couldn’t beat them all on her own. By now, the child was a grown woman and she decided to help her pry the demonic control off of the land. She became the White Witch. Her sinister brothers didn’t consider it fair that she got a magic helper, so they dragged a poor, desperate soul to their side. He became the Black Sorcerer. They didn’t like sharing this soul, however.

Something about the machine was magnetic, drawing all their focus towards it like a black hole capturing light. It wasn’t much more interesting than the other games in the arcade – in fact the design was fairly simple – but it was attention-grabbing, enticing. The overwhelming lights and sounds of the arcade seemed to fade away, muffled like they were underwater. But Ziria stayed bright and loud as before, becoming by contrast the only interesting thing in this arcade.

After a few more knocks, Emma finally got up from her desk and opened it. She didn’t find a pizza man, or anyone in a suit holding a book. Instead, she found a crying teen girl on her doorstep.
“Oh, did I get the wrong apartment? I thought he still lived here. Shoot. Um, do you know where Paul Matthews lives? I think he used to live in this apartment.”
“Yeah he should be home from work in like a few hours. Come on in.”
As soon as Alice stepped into the apartment, it was clear that the woman had convinced Paul to do some decorating.
