It really did start off as a joke.
I mean, no one really makes legitimately genuine connections on those Omegle-style chat sites, right? Really the most you've ever used them for was to get some attention for an hour or two before the other person got bored. It rarely left the site, as you never saw the need for it to.
Username ActionRyder met you through three shared tags of interest: Drinking, Music, and Tom Ryder movies. Over the course of eight months, ActionRyder became something to you. He provided for you without question or hesitation. He insisted his affection was not transactional. All he asked for in return? Companionship. When you fell for the guy, you fell hard, and at the prospect of meeting him, you didn't know a world in which you would refuse the opportunity. Who knows what it might bring?

Dave thought that he was okay with what his future entailed. He didn't want to burden any more people with the weight he carried. He had friends, and that was really all he ever needed.
Casey thought he was okay with being alone. He had a history for ruining fragile things, touching them too rough with bare fingers and tainting them. He didn't want to continue this pattern of pain and hurt on people who didn't deserve it.

Summary
A transfer from your lab has made you and your husband, Ryland Grace, desperate for the help of an engineer. The two of you were so desperate, it seemed, that you took to asking Stratt to use what authority she had to reach out into a COI monitored program and apply for the type of help they offered. She was understandably reluctant, and the pool to choose from was as shallow as it gets, but the options were there. All you and Ryland had to do was pick one.
Simon was several years away from meeting his death row sentence. He knew that the rest of his life would consist of iron, concrete, monitored showers, and rations in the form of chalky cubes, and that was okay. His past lingered within him, still, despite his best efforts to ignore it. Who knew it would literally be his saving grace(s)?

Summary
Tom had never seen someone so angry at him. He had never even been yelled at so directly by directors or acting coaches. No one had never made him feel so small with so few hurtful words. It was in part satisfying because it was so new, while being terrifying because it was you. You were mad at him. The one time he goes and thinks he's found a genuine connection, he's gone and blown it before he could even confess to you. At least, he thinks he's blown it.
