Geralt stares at the girl riding in front of him, talking about—something or another, he isn't sure what. He'd stopped listening hours ago. He's desperately trying to wrap his head around the current situation, around all of this, and especially the girl.
Julia, as she'd been introduced.
Geralt is pretty confident she'd been under the influence of drugs the day before. The glassy look and dopey smile she’d had is nowhere to be found anymore. Not since the early hours in the morning when they had left the opulent mansion the girl had presumably called home until yesterday.
He had expected resentment, anger, apprehension. Anything really but whatever this is.
The girl seems almost... happy.

Summary
No witcher ever called the 'law of surprise' in these modern days, it was deemed too inhuman all those centuries ago, by these few who were still alive.
Centuries passed and the world of men grew.
While the 'elder' races sought to hide in the fringes of society or within one of the few wild sanctuaries left to them. Some witchers had taken to becoming protectors of these sacred lands, seeing it as a form of retirement.
However, some eternal powers will disregard all the rules and still find a way to meddle in some poor unsuspecting individual's life.
The Wolf Clan are about to be blessed, regardless of their feelings or past demands from fate.

Summary
As a rule, Geralt only sleeps with people outside of his pack when he’s on long contracts away from home. Even then, he limits himself to one-night stands with humans to avoid any unnecessary entanglements. It’s never been a problem, but things get complicated when he meets Jaskier, because Geralt can’t bring himself to stop seeing him.
Then feelings get involved, and Geralt is truly fucked, because he realizes he wants to keep Jaskier.
That means Geralt has to somehow convince Jaskier not only that werewolves are real, but that he is one. And if that doesn’t blow up in his face, he then has to confess that he sleeps with his pack, and that if Jaskier joins, they all share.
Geralt is certain there’s not a single chance this can turn out well.

After Jaskier starts travelling with him, the words Geralt hears to describe him become kinder, and he hears himself referred to as the white wolf, more than the butcher.
The same cannot be said for Jaskier. When at first it was lovely, pretty, songbird, now the words to describe the bard are of an entirely different nature.---000---
During their first summer on the path Geralt hears Jaskier referred to as loud, obnoxious, and once - rather unkindly- as a chatty little bitch. Which Geralt finds he can somewhat understand, especially in those moments where he needs just a little peace and quiet. It’s mostly when he finishes the more difficult hunts, potions still raging through his bloodstream, his senses just a bit too sharp for comfort. Jaskier’s voice isn’t grating, it’s rather lovely, in fact. But in those moments, Geralt just wants to growl at him and tell him to be quiet.
He never calls the bard a chatty little bitch though.

The boy had been given to Geralt in the hopes that he would be enough to pay off his parents’ debts. Geralt had not been thrilled, but they promised him that in a few years, the kid would be worth triple what they owed Geralt.
He can afford to take a chance and he assures the couple that when the time comes, if the boy doesn’t fetch him what they promise, he will come calling and they won’t like the results.
Until then, though, what the hell is he supposed to do with a kid?
Or... Geralt ends up raising Jaskier as his son but then begins to lust after him. Good thing he's never cared about morals.

Geralt encounters a strange servant in a furrier's shop one day who follows him endlessly, asking to buy the fur coat he received as reward for a completed contract. The coat is such an odd thing. The furrier tore his shop to pieces for the loss of it, and the servant quit a comfortable life in the shop for the pursuit of it. And what's more, the servant continues to find him year after year on every turn of the path, his offer to buy the coat never ceasing.
ALT - Selkie Jaskier AU. Geralt accidentally picks Jaskier's selkie coat out of the shop at random, finding it hidden in a pile of furs, not knowing what it was. The furrier lost his enslaved selkie along with it, and Jaskier pursues Geralt to buy his true freedom, all while keeping his identity as a selkie secret. And whoops, they fall in love!

It may mean he has to leave the Path to fix his brother's mistakes (and potentially bash him over the head for his stupidity) but if that leads him and those around him to a new found family and actually learning how to deal with their emotions, that's probably for the best.

The Leshy had been the final fucking straw.
For decades, Eskel had found himself increasingly sick of walking the Path and living the life of monsters and money.
He had spent most of his life being hated for something he had no choice in: becoming a mutant.
It was thankless work, people didn’t want to pay even when he’d bested their monster, and everyone was afraid of him.
But winter came yet again as Eskel made his way up to Kaer Morhen, badly injured by a fucking Leshy, of all things,
And by the time Eskel was deemed free of the Leshy and able to rest, everyone else in the Keep was wrapped around the fingers of Geralt’s daughter, Ciri.
So when the pass was clear enough for travel in the spring, Eskel had made up his mind: he was done with doing what was expected of him.
Eskel wanted to retire.
In years bygone, Eskel had spent some time in Oxenfurt, sitting in on whatever classes at the University that allowed mutants, and he’d thoroughly enjoyed that pursuit of knowledge, though he could never afford the tuition to attend as a student.
