The realization that hits him like a bullet to his gut that Day doesn't like him or the fact that Day is dying because he loves someone so much that he coughed up a petal.
EDIT: this work has not been abandoned. the ao3 author curse hit me, but i'm over it and currently writing more. i will update this soon i hope. if anyone is waiting for updates, i can only ask for some patience.

And — and Light truly takes a moment to comb through the litany of information he has gathered obsessively over the years; hours of clicking through websites, days spent combing through entire sections of libraries, weeks spent in the biology department of his university — the human body, a fascinating organism that produces, creates and reacts from chemicals and environments; fighting foreign substances and fighting itself when it needs to.
The intimate feeling of blood rushing through his wrists and organs sitting in his torso feels heavier than ever. “What about skin to skin contact?”
L stills, locked in motion, face only showing traces of emotion through his eyes slightly cracking wider; an instinctual reaction borne from needing to widen the visual field if the body reacts to something it perceives as dangerous.
(Or, Light’s fascination with the human body and L’s lack of boundaries crash together. Surprisingly, it doesn’t end badly.)

As L watches, the man extracts a twittering phone from his pocket and pitches it calmly into the river below.
He's not sure what makes him speak. L’s never been one to make idle chit-chat with strangers. Still, he finds himself opening his mouth to call, “In denial?”The man half-turns at the sound of his voice. He has a sweet smile. “In the Sumida, actually,” he calls back cheerfully.

Summary
L Lawliet doesn't regret sending Kira to his execution. He doesn't feel any sympathy for Light, he isn't sorry he won, and he certainly doesn't miss Light. Not at all.
He would like to know why the world feels so hollow without him, though.
Or: Misa was right. It is a dark world without Light, and L is being haunted.

Summary
Life attached to Ryuzaki was something Light didn't think he would ever get accustomed to. Ryuzaki never slept (which Light knew, as they shared not only a bedroom but also a bed), only ate sweets, and spent 90% of his time either staring at his computer or staring at Light.
