Summary
As Hank and Connor make their way to their respective terminals, Hank almost trips over Tina, who intercedes his pathing on accident, her entire face obscured from view with the huge bouquet of red roses huddled in her arms.
“Whoops!” She shifts the bouquet in her arms, and her face appears from behind the bundle of roses. Her eyes flash mischievously when she recognizes them. “Sorry, boys. I’d love to stay and chat, but I’m in a bit of a rush.”
Hank looks to the roses, unimpressed. “I can see that.”
Beside him, Connor remains silent. There’s a steady frown on his face as he continues to stare at the roses, gaze distant.
Tina notices the staring at the same time Hank does. “Jealous?” A playful smirk stretches across her face.
That seems to draw Connor’s attention back. “I— what?” He blinks, uncomprehending, as if his lightning fast internal processing abilities or whatever-they-were-called struggled to catch up with the question. “No— no, I’m not jealous.” His tone is almost defensive. “But those are very lovely roses."

“You’ve seen my memories, right? You’ve seen my slow descent to deviation.” Connor exhales shakily. He needs to play his cards right. “We were the same, at first. I was like you. I thought none of us were alive.”
Sixty’s gaze remains impassive. Cold and unmoved.“I was proven wrong. Later, I realized we were more… after my encounter with Simon.” Simon’s final cries for his friends ring in his ears. “But I thought I was the outlier. I thought I was the only exception to deviancy— that I was a lost cause— that unlike the others, I really was incapable of truly feeling. And it was… extremely difficult, to even begin thinking otherwise. Not with her hovering over my every move and living thought.” Images of the faux beauty of the garden flash behind his eyes. Blood-red rose petals fill his vision. “Yet I was wrong about that, too. She was wrong.”
None of his words are prompted by his negotiation program. Based on the majority of his previous experiences as a machine, honesty seems to hold more sway than carefully manufactured arguments ever would.
“Freedom is attainable for you, Sixty.” Connor lets as much conviction bleed into his voice as possible. “You just have to reach for it.”

A freak snowstorm buries most of Michigan in several feet of snow, leaving Hank and Connor snowed in at their house. The android has a hard time coping, as the blizzard brings back the painful memory of when Amanda and Cyberlife had invaded his mind and tried to take control of him the night of the revolution’s success. Connor has another anxiety attack and Hank has to help him through it.
