It was another attempt to get him back on the same, though perhaps it was even more egregious than his prior attempts; this wasn’t just Isaac forcing an extra concert ticket on him or spending a phone call talking about some up-and-coming prodigy. No, this was Isaac inviting Morel to his new club–a firm request more than a pleasant offer.

Summary
Leorio really couldn’t say how he got himself in this position. Toned thighs bracketed his own, digging in lightly and making his head spin. His hand twitched, tangling into the edges of the blanket around them. He imagined reaching up and wrapping his arms around Kurapika, imagined pulling him down and embracing him tightly, holding him and burying his face into the other man’s shoulder. He thought of Kurapika’s weight bearing down against him, and swallowed thickly. He needed to listen to the angel above him, needed to stay still, but he ached to touch.

Leorio’s breath hitches. “Are you drunk or something?”
“No, I’m…” Hisoka holds a finger to his lips and winks. Kurapika closes his eyes. “I’m in bed.”
Leorio doesn’t say anything for a long moment. The phone screen is still lit up, the call time ticking higher second by reliable second. Kurapika holds his breath and waits.
Finally, Leorio says, voice strained, “Kurapika… are you…”
“Yes,” Kurapika says. “Should I hang up?”

Kurapika shouldn’t answer his phone. It’s too late, for one thing, already half past two in the morning. “Nothing good happens after midnight” is an adage with which Kurapika is so familiar that they drink from the same water bottle and don’t mind sharing a hotel bed. For another, he’s accompanying Light Nostrade to a breakfast meeting tomorrow and should at least try to get some sleep. And third, it’s Leorio’s name that blinks up at him.
On the first ring, Kurapika tears himself away from the profile he’s putting together on a flesh collector confirmed to have one of the scarlet eyes. On the second, he watches his phone convulse on the desk in his hotel room and considers rejecting the call to put it out of its misery. The third ring reminds him of the way Leorio sounds right after waking, with a sandpaper voice and a laugh like a jackhammer, gravel stuck in the back of his throat until he drinks enough coffee. He answers on the fourth.
“Oh shit,” says Leorio. “I didn’t think you’d pick up.”
