Summary
When Jake was first hospitalized, Jungwon was too busy with quite literally everything else in his life to be ruminating on the fact that it was Taehyun who’d crashed into him. Now, many months later, it’s the only thing on his mind. He feels like Riki can tell. Riki can always tell.

Sunoo snorts. “Yeah?”
Jungwon sighs, content. “Yeah,” his eyes sleepily blink open. “They’re all running towards something: a medal, a world record, whatever.” He reaches a hand out in front of him, as if he’s trying to grab the sun in the palm of his hand. “I’m the only one running away.”

“You’re the type of boy,” Sunoo says with tender fondness, tucking a lock of hair behind Jungwon’s ear, “that would never break a pinky swear.”
Jungwon’s heart stutters. “And yet I keep loving boys who would.”
Sunoo’s smile is beautiful and earth-shatteringly familiar. That type of forlorn loveliness comes when you see hope only after you’ve already given up on life. It’s wistful and fond, and twice now in his life has it been directed at Jungwon of all people.
“I’d never break a promise if it was to you.”
Jungwon lets his lips curl upwards in response. He allows – for once in his life – to let things play out in a cheesy cliche.
“Pinky swear?”

Jungwon breathes in the comforting smell of home: the soft lavenders and meadow grass, baby powder and old rubber tires, and cries into his grandmother's cardigan. He can’t tell if they’re tears of relief or mourning, of hope for what is to come or regret for what is already lost. She pets his hair gently, murmuring sweet things like Jungwon’s still her baby boy with scrapes on his knees, and he clutches to her tighter. He falls asleep with his head on her lap and papery lips pressed to his forehead.

Summary
Heeseung sweeps in to grab Sunghoon’s hand and twirl him around on the ice, laughing as the younger lets out a peal of laughter while Jungwon shrieks at his sudden loss of a partner. Sunghoon’s eyes sparkle with the light of ice shards, refracting light in all directions and melting into something serene and cool. His hair rumples itself artfully as he spins back towards Jungwon, grabbing his hand and sending the two of them into a fit of uncontrollable giggles as they fall into an uncoordinated dance.
They spin and spin, getting lost in the white lights and seemingly endless curve of the plexiglass walls, ending up in a heap of breathless giggles on the ice, blinking up at the metal pipe infested ceiling. Jungwon’s elbow is digging into his stomach, and Sunghoon’s hair is tickling under his chin, but Heeseung’s never been happier than this moment. Freezing cold and blessedly warm, breathing heavy and mind numb with a dizzy sort of joy.

Summary
Heeseung’s pleasantly surprised with the way Riki finds a way around the insistent walls surrounding Jungwon’s heart. While Heeseung remembers gaining Jungwon’s trust slowly and quietly, Riki finds a shortcut, somehow.
With cheesy pickup lines and loud laughter, unyielding physical affection even when Jungwon whines and tries to squirm away; Heeseung watches in silent awe as Jungwon melts, day by day, defenses lowering and smiles lingering when Riki continues to push the boundaries that Heeseung would’ve never dared to cross like they don’t even exist.
