That's what they've always been. Two halves of one whole person. No wonder Spite grafted onto Lucanis so easily, his soul had always been reaching out for another.

After losing Razikale to Rook and getting hurt for the first time in millenia, Ghilan'nain yearns for revenge and for work that fulfils her like the creation of her archdemon did. Luckily she gets her hands on a Crow that could be made to look more like the Abomination that he is.
This is maybe infringing on Dead Dove territory, there will be very dark moments and body horror and it surely will not be easy to read in parts. This bunny grabbed me and made me write, write, write, so it's weird and self-indulgent and evil and a little sweet and I promise it will all turn out good in the end.

Summary
Lucanis disliked the West. It was wild, hot, and dry. There were no good cafés, but mostly, it was crawling with Venatori.
Until the contract for Calivan, he’d seen them as little more than targets — easy bounties.
A year locked away in the Ossuary changed that. Now, he hated the West and every last member of that blood cult.
Escaping had nearly cost him his life. He needed medical attention, and worse, he had his own guardian demon named Spite. That was how they stumbled upon the mortician in a small town called Nevarra.
Emmrich was everything the Crows had trained Lucanis not to be — empathetic, merciful, and above all, kind. Lucanis owed him a debt for the healing, and over time, he learned how life in this strange town worked.
There was still revenge to take. Still contracts left unfulfilled.
But there was also Emmrich.
Maybe he didn’t hate the West as much as he thought.

So close to the thing felt as Lucanis leaned against the pantry wall and chased the warmth of Rook’s mouth. So close to the thing felt as Illario stared at them across the room, bored to death but not allowed to die.
“Are. You sure?” Asked cautiously. But curious.
Lucanis chuckles. Soft sound, fading quickly in the air of the villa, as though the villa eats laughter. “Yes. I’m sure.”

He looks up at the sound of the door, those bright hazel eyes reflecting nearby candlelight. Surprise widens his gaze, but in an instant, as recognition takes hold, every feature softens. He smiles for Lucanis and it’s so good to see that Lucanis’ knees grow watery beneath his weight, threatening to give out entirely. He could weep for relief at the sight. That near-need to collapse morphs quickly into something else as Lucanis’ leg muscles twitch, convulsing with a sudden urge to run toward Emmrich, a jerky start and stop motion, a single, stumbling step. His heart leaps and Lucanis suddenly can’t breathe.
