Andrew watches for too long, but no one joins him. He scans the house windows, cranes his neck like it would help him see past the house to the front drive. But it seems the house has finally found a new owner. And somehow, this is worse, worse than empty year after year. Because at least if it was empty, Andrew could pretend that he might come back, that his family might still own the house and had just decided on a different summer vacation spot for a bit.
But this… This confirms it. He won't see him again.

He had only just sat down to begin people-watching when he saw his next muse.
The man was obviously trying not to attract any attention, keeping his head down and movements quick but sure. Andrew almost laughed. How someone as breathtaking as him could even hope to remain unseen as a mystery.
Andrew watched as the guy walked up to one of the employees behind the counter and started up a conversation. He documented the guy’s movement, how he walked, the way he gesticulated. Suffice it to say, Andrew was captivated.
This guy, whoever he was, was going to be Andrew’s next muse.

The imminent return to Evermore has him jumping at shadows, and he is already at the end of his rope. Every ounce of energy every single day goes to pretending to be what is required of him—he has to override years of training (away, not towards) to perform adequately on the court, to uphold the Trojan standard, and he has to pretend that while he does it he is a functioning human and not simply a discarded toy too broken to be played with anymore.
It’s why he spent his time in Palmetto when he could walk watching every single Trojans interview and game he could, so he could memorize their speeches and their strategies and their game play so that he would not be a burden. Jean knows what he owes his new masters. And he will not fail.
