'They say every 200 years there's a massacre'.
Did their time in Oakhurst count as a massacre? The body count was pathetic, really, compared to the numbers he alone had caused in the past. But maybe it wasn't the number that had mattered. The percentage, perhaps. So few had died, but so few had been there to die in the first place. It was too vague. Too uncertain. And Scott was thinking about it again when he had promised himself he was not going to.

Its 2025, and 200 years have passed since Scott, Shelby and Drift walked out of Oakhurst. They've been going back every year to visit since, so it shouldn't be any different this time. If they ignore the curse, that is. Which was Scott's plan, until Abolish reveals he's still alive and is going to be going with them to Oakhurst this time. And when they get there, Cleo and Pearl have bad news. It seems danger is still coming for Oakhurst. And it's wearing a friend's face.

Summary
Something in Scott's eyes tightened. The vampire took another half step forward, more than ever looking like he was holding something in deep inside.
"The animals are dying," Scott spelled out. "We can't feed off of them anymore."
Avid furrowed his eyebrows in confusion, before it hit. His mouth gaped open as fear struck a chord inside him and sent shivers running down his spine.
There were no more animals. The vampires were out of food.

Avid is a vampire hunter. Scott is a vampire. Obviously both hate the other from the start. But strange things happen in the woods of Oakhurst. After unlikely circumstances bring the two closer (in more ways than one), their rivalries start to unravel.
Maybe Scott isn't such a bloodthirsty monster, and can even be pretty nice sometimes--and maybe he's hot, but that's a different topic. Maybe Avid isn't such an annoying nuisance, but someone with unexpected depths and personality (having a pretty face certainly helps).
Maybe the two who've been fated to be against each other since the beginning don't have to be enemies. Just maybe.OR

“Avid.” Drift sounded exasperated.
She was sympathetic to his concerns, but she never actually believed him when he discussed vampires being real–because they were.
“It’s not a vampire, its just a poor little bat that was caught in the storm.”
“Yeah–a vampire bat!”

But then Scott stopped talking, and Pyro quickly followed suit. The nobleman’s nose scrunched up, his now pointier ears (seriously, how had nobody noticed that? He wasn’t crazy! They just refused to look!) twitched. All that Avid could hear was his own heartbeat. He wasn’t breathing, he wasn’t moving. He refused to let out a single sound. He wasn’t ready, not to go against two of them. Maybe if he’d just come across one of them by themselves, he could have… surely if it was Pyro. Scott he was far more afraid of.
“It sounds like we have company”. Following Scott’s words, everything moved in slow motion. The vampire’s head turned, their eyes locked together, and then Avid was running.
He didn’t know where he was going. There was nowhere for him to run. He was far away from town, outside of any proper path, and, most importantly, nobody believed him. Nobody had tried going after him. He had no allies left. Nobody would have known if he had died.
Avid was going to die.

“I’m sorry,” Scott whispered. “I should have listened to you. I should have kept an eye on them. I shouldn’t have given them an opportunity to be alone with you. I shouldn’t have left you in the first place.” It felt strange speaking to a stone that couldn’t hear nor answer him, but he forced himself to keep on talking, anyway. “You … I never have shown it, didn’t know how to, or maybe it was just my pride getting in my way. But … God, Avid, how can I even put it into words?”
He looked down at the black rose, his fingers brushing over the thorns and caressing the nearly entirely closed petals.
“You took me completely off-guard. And I don’t know how you did it, but you took my heart when I wasn’t looking—something that I didn’t think possible anymore. And the worst thing about it is, I can’t even be mad at you for it. How can I, when you brought the light back into my heart, when you taught me how to actually, truly care again?” He sighed deeply before he whispered, “My biggest regret is that I didn’t kiss you one more time.”

Scott frowned. “Why would you come here if this place is ripe for disaster?”
Avid’s hand moved up to cover the injury that was hidden beneath layers of bandages without thinking. For a moment, he debated if he should even tell him about this, but then again, it was probably better if he was to be open with Scott from the beginning, at least as much as he could. Maybe then, they’d get a bit closer this time around.
“I have this injury that refuses to heal,” he finally said, “had it since I was a child. I know that the creature that scratched me has been seen around here, so I’ve come here in the hopes of finding a cure. You know, like you can make an antidote for a snake bite using the venom of that very same snake.”
Scott looked at him, then, really looked at him, and hummed in consideration. Avid couldn’t help the spark of hope blooming in his chest. Was he considering to turn him? That would make everything so much easier—
“I hope you’ll be able to find that cure.”
