Hitoshi's not even listening at this point. The whole day has been like a bad case of deja vu, except worse, because he actually did live this yesterday. They've done the same work in class, Hitoshi has caught snippets of conversations that he caught snippets of yesterday, word for word. Bakugou does the same thing he did yesterday, where he knocks Midoriya's lunch out of his hand just as the green-haired boy tries to scamper out of the classroom to avoid the very thing from happening.
And now their teacher is ignoring the mess he’s made by mentioning that the quirkless kid and the kid with the villainous quirk want to join U.A.

Oh my god I can't get over this one. There's something with stories this particular length that can be read in one sitting that just... hits different. We do not get to see Fuyumi's journey to becoming a hero, rather it's laid out across the plot and it's much more direct this way. I really loved Fuyumi's dynamic with Hawks, and even Red Dahlia feels fleshed out as a character. That moment when Fuyumi reconnects with Shouto and just, all the things they've shared together, it makes my heart wrench. Fuyumi herself is also very well-written and we can see her develop into someone more hardy, toughened up by everything she struggled with over the years, someone with more visceral emotions, but there's still that core of her inside, caring for the people she loves.

It does nothing but drive in the fact that Denki is utterly fucked in the brain.
Like, sure, when he was younger he’s always been aware that people around him aren’t as perfect as they seem on the outside. But he’s never realized that nobody else is in a constant passive state of second guessing and on edge in every social situation and afraid of talking to people up until now, where he’s surrounded by people who just get each other, and it makes him realize that no — not everyone is like him.

He wasn’t ever planning on sleeping through the impact that night. Kirishima's lived his life wishing he could be better than everything that’s been shown on the surface level. He wanted to be more than big talk and big muscles and bright smiles that hide dark insecurities. He wanted true bravery. And if he couldn’t quite achieve that until the very end, then he’ll just have to savor it with the bitter happiness of a thousand lives lived in between. He’ll be brave in his very last moments, and that’ll be enough to fill his body with some semblance of peace.

It's just, Kirishima is one of the better protagonists to be featured in this type of story. This fic makes me feel funny things in this heart of mine, mainly of course, existential dread! We love that. Writing is good at feeling sentimental and stuff.Title: On the Edge of Tomorrow

The cutlery stops clinking. Izuku sighs into his spaghetti. They’d talked about this. Izuku had talked about it, anyway, although come to think of it he really should have known Kacchan wouldn’t listen to a word. Dropping bombs even in the middle of a nice family dinner. How very on-brand. “I thought we agreed to break the news gently.”
Mitsuki, to her credit, takes the revelation in stride. "We’re very happy for you, Izuku! You’re a sweet kid and you’ll be a good influence on my stupid son.”
“Thank you, aunty.” Inko still hasn’t said anything. Hesitantly, Izuku reaches across the table to brush his fingers against hers. “Mom? You’re being awful quiet.”
Mitsuki nudges her. “I’m sure she’s just surprised. Really, Masaru and I should be thanking you, Izuku. You’re far too good for our son.”
Inko smiles very sweetly and takes a sip of her wine. “You know what, Mitsuki? I agree.”
