“There we are.” Stede coos. Ed keeps his gaze on the blanket he’s holding tight, his expression a concoction of anxiety and sheepishness. His eyes dart up to Stede’s face for only a moment before shooting back down to the blanket, which he picks at the edge of absentmindedly.
Stede looks at him confusedly. “Ed?”
“Mm?”
Stede tenderly cups Ed’s face. With a slight sigh, Ed leans into it, which is at least typical of him.
“Is everything quite alright, love?”
“Mm…” Ed hums, leaning further into the contact. “Yeah.” He hugs the blanket a little closer. “Yeah…”
Ed learns to open up a bit more. Stede learns how to handle it.

Summary
The result of their monthly visits to Jim's Nana was a generous stock of fruit, more than enough to share even if Stede hadn’t been inclined towards good manners. That was natural for the Gentleman Pirate, yes? So it was nothing at all to offer Izzy the last of his orange, wrapped in an embroidered silk handkerchief to keep his fingers clean.
The inconsequential nature of the gesture made it all the more shocking when Izzy flinched, staring at the orange as if Stede had just offered him salvation, not a bit of fruit.

"Is there nothing else I can do?" Izzy asks. Stede feels himself soften a little.
His head's starting to spin a little, and so he closes his eyes as he whispers, "Get in," pulling the covers off his bed to let Izzy in. Stede's sees Izzy's eye twitch as he takes in Stede's silk pyjamas, sees him start to shake in something like indignance and disbelief, and then he crumbles under the weight of the order, untying the laces of his boots and crawling stiffly into Stede's bed.
"Happy now?" he rasps resentfully.
"Not quite," murmers Stede, and he pulls Izzy into his arms, feeling Izzy collapse into his embrace and pull them closer still.

Summary
Nights with Israel are not bad, not at all. Both Stede and Ed enjoy when Izzy chooses to stay over, happily making room for him in the middle of their bed, where he will inevitably be squashed between them.
It’s just that Izzy is an incredibly light sleeper.
It's the full moon, and each time Buttons had burst into a wallowing cry of monotone song, Izzy had woken up, and had subsequently woken up both Ed and Stede as he fluttered around the room, waiting for the tune to cease.
By now, it’s the fifth time Buttons has resumed his calls, and Stede and Ed have long forgone a proper night’s sleep.

"Don't need it. Sleep on the deck every night," Izzy says, fighting Bonnets attempts to tuck him in. Surely someone as pampered as Bonnet wouldn't simply give up a cushy bed like this forever, much less to the likes of Izzy Hands. It's not done.
Bonnet finally manages to wrestle him under the covers and places a cool cloth over his forehead. Bonnet gives him a stupid little forehead kiss and tells him goodnight, and leaves a cup of water on the nightstand. Izzy must admit it's not the most awful thing in the world.
