Possession leaves its marks on Stiles. He finds ways to keep himself contained, but they aren't permanent, they're barely even stopgaps. He can't trust himself, so he leaves, even though all he wants to do is stay.
Figures that when he finally musters the courage to go back to Beacon Hills that everything goes to shit— figures that somehow, some way, it's his dad that's in trouble.
There's no vices that can distract Stiles from the rot in his soul; there's no amount of bottles that'll bring his mom back. There's nothing that will fix them.

Stiles dies. It is not a peaceful death, it's adrenaline in his veins and blood, so much blood, and then nothing. In a way, that's okay. He dies, and the people he loves move on, just like he would have wanted them too.
What's not okay is waking up years later, barely making it out of his casket alive, knowing that he is more alone now than he ever was decomposing in the ground.
Somehow, he has to move on too.

He's taking a shortcut through a narrow alley, the rain pouring down hard, when he stumbles onto a concerning looking lump. It's humanoid, almost.
It's just his luck that his curiosity leads him to a man bleeding out; it's his own piss-poor decisions that lead to that very same man kidnapping him. Piss-poor decisions like saving the bugger.
