She stared awkwardly around the couch, at the floor, at anything that wasn’t Zoey; feeling much too aware of her tongue and saliva and, now, a little put off by how intently Zoey was suddenly looking.
‘Holy Honmoon.’
‘What? What is it?’ Rumi asked around her fingers. She made a strained noise as Zoey pinched her top lip to pull it higher.
‘You have fangs.’
‘I… huh?’

'Why didn’t you take it off earlier if you were so uncomfortable?’
She blinked, squinting in the light with eyes that shifted back and forth like they were searching for the answer. Her fingers brushed against the shimmering patterns along her bicep. She was so used to being careful about showing her arms, about keeping her patterns covered no matter what, that the thought to simply take off a layer to cool down hadn’t even registered to her.
‘I… didn’t even think about it.’

Rumi's still getting used to dressing for the weather rather than for her patterns - the need to cover up has just been drilled into her for so long. Inevitably, this backfires on her.

Wordlessly, the woman handed Rumi a glass of water and she gratefully took a sip before the water was snatched away and set down on a little side table next to a couch and a couple of chairs. Then she was pushed towards a chair, "Sit for me, pretty girl."
A thousand articles had been written about Rumi's looks. About how beautiful she was, how hot she was, about the looks she'd inherited from her mother.
And it was a 'pretty girl' from this woman that lodged itself in her chest and refused to leave.
Or, Rumi gets addicted to both the pretty stripper and the girl who works the front.

Rumi threw one last glance outside, over her shoulder, and saw a couple of people unloading the cab and starting to drag her suitcases towards the mansion. It felt surreal. Her whole life packed in those wheeled boxes, about to get trapped in some strangers’ house. She was really doing this. She was really marrying into this family she’d never even heard of just a few weeks ago.

Rumi gets engaged to Mira’s brother, Mira makes it her duty to show her how welcoming her family can be, and Zoey’s a hot mess finding herself completely out of her depth when Rumi hires her as her assistant.

Celine knows something is wrong before she gets the phone call. The Honmoon is disturbed. Weeping sad tearful notes and rippling in a way that leaves her heart aching and anxiety settling deep in her gut. Something is so wrong and even without the Honmoon she knows it's Rumi.
Then her phone rings and she's calm and she's cool and she's collected. Celine throws her phone into the wall when she hangs up and screams out a sound that has the Honmoon curling around her in a vain effort to comfort her.

Rumi ignored her chest squeezing.
“-A stunning girlfriend, Mira. I mentioned her, right? My girlfriend Mira-” The woman stopped abruptly and lowered her head down into her arms. “Jeez, Zoey, stop rambling at the deaf woman.” It was muffled, but Rumi heard it.
Silenced by grief, Rumi’s world is transformed when she crosses paths with Mira and Zoey, who guide her toward a voice she thought was lost forever.
