Summary
It hurts like absolute hell, knowing that she has spent at least a decade loving someone who could never love her back. Knowing that she has spent long, drunken nights alone in her apartment wondering when the hell everything would fall back into place. Knowing that she is going to have to travel home alone and come to terms with the fact that the future she thought she had all figured out is actually never going to come to fruition.

Summary
Alexis is coming back to visit Schitt’s Creek for the first time since she moved away, and David has spent the past week readying the already-pristine house and guest room for her arrival. Of course they’ve facetimed and talked a lot in the space between, but now she’s so busy and extremely successful that David is lucky if he catches her on the phone more than once a week.
Which is obviously what brought him to the whole not-drinking-all-day thing. The absolute last thing he needs right now is another oopsy daisy.

or
David leaves the store to get lunch and ends up getting high with Stevie behind the motel. Together they come up with the bright idea to prank call the Apothecary.

Patrick’s lips curl with mirth. “I think we lost the right to that expectation when half the population was wiped out.”

Summary
When Patrick finds himself stood up on his first attempt at getting drinks with a man, he starts to wonder if moving to Schitt's Creek and leaving everything he knew behind was the best idea.
That is, until he meets a drunken man with beautiful coiffed hair and a love of polar bear shots and karaoke.

Summary
David steps closer and holds out a hand. Patrick finally looks up at him, brown eyes wide and sad in the pale moonlight.
He hesitates, and David sighs. “You know I’m not going to come down there and get grass stains on my outfit. My mom already made me kneel on the dirty motel floor today. Please?”
Despite everything, Patrick lets out a soft laugh, shaking his head as he takes David’s hand.

Summary
“You may have spent most of your life in luxury, but you grew up here, in that motel, on these streets, in our store. You’re you because of this town, and I think the hatred and disgust that you felt for it when you first got here is long gone.”

Summary
David makes what he’s sure is a very unattractive face and cracks an eye open, of course, to see a very attractive doctor. His blue scrubs look nice against his very pale skin, and David wants to choke himself with the stethoscope around his neck for embarrassing himself like this. Warm brown eyes look down at him, open and kind, and god, the curls.

Summary
“Thinking about how fun doing inventory will be tomorrow?” Patrick teases, voice soft but firm.
David looks up and his eyes immediately latch onto the shine of Patrick’s lips as he pulls his own bottle away from his face, finishing a sip. His tongue darts out a second later, quickly swiping up the remnants on his skin, and David nearly implodes on the spot.
“You’re funny,” he replies a beat too late, wincing at his own awkwardness.

Summary
And suddenly Patrick is sure he won’t care if their cake topples over, or the DJ sucks, or the birthday clown turns out to be It. Because no matter what, they’re about to be married. He is about to be a husband, committed to the love of his life forever.
The entire town could be wiped out in a tornado right this second and he’s sure his feet will stay firmly planted on this altar, ready to follow through.

Summary
“I used to hate it,” David finally says, closing his eyes for a moment before pulling back to meet his fiancé’s gaze. Patrick doesn’t reply, instead giving a little nod, encouraging him to continue. “Before we lost everything, it was the only thing anyone would focus on. If they didn’t recognize my face, they recognized the name, and every time I tried to convince myself they actually liked me, but they just liked that, and what doors it opened for them.”

“Don’t pretend I didn’t just see what you were doing.”
David turns, eyes wide and jaw moving comically slow, trying to mask his chewing, to see Patrick standing with his arms crossed, lips turned up at the corners. David backs up as he swallows.
