When he first arrived in Arkham Asylum it wasn’t far off from what he expected. Long white corridors lined with blank metal doors that led to small white rooms. That was the first thing that really got to him, the lack of color. Everything was shades of white and gray. Gotham was all soot blacks, blood reds, mud browns, chemical greens, neon yellows, pinks, blues. The rogues that were housed here were bright shades of loud and brash on the streets of Gotham, but in Arkham they were dull and muted. And they deserved it, every last one of them, but now Jason was counted amongst their ranks and he could feel the color draining out of him too, leaching out from the bare soles of his feet into the cold white tiles.

Summary
Three short months ago, Bruce brought Jason home after finding him starving, alone in an alley. Now he was doing quite well in his studies and training, but it broke Bruce's heart how much Jason seemed to expect the other shoe to drop any day. He'd never had a reason to trust the adults in his life before, so of course he was having difficulty coming to trust Bruce and Alfred.
So when Bruce came across a skittish little puppy while out on patrol, he started to wonder if adopting a puppy would help Jason out, help with his anxieties and give him the unconditional love he deserved, in a form he could tolerate. Maybe through teaching a puppy he was safe, he'd come to realize he was safe as well. It was worth a shot, and Bruce would be a gigantic liar if he said he didn't love their new puppy, too.

Those dreams suddenly came a little more into focus, when his idiot of a pimp accidentally tried to rent him to Bruce Wayne. Poor bastard could have never guessed he was the Batman himself. Heck, not even Jason figured that out, at first. And Batman had practically adopted him.

So he could handle a ghost or two.

It’s become a habit. Walk by the mirror, attempt a smile, carry on. Only today he’s determined to get it right. Nobody should be home anyway, and even if they were, nobody’s going to be passing by this mirror, tucked away by the back end of the west wing anytime soon. At least, there wasn’t supposed to be.

“Tim,” Dick interrupted with a whisper, “out loud. Read the name out loud to me. Please.”
Call it paranoid, but Dick needed to know he wasn’t making this up. That he wasn’t stupidly hallucinating a name that wasn’t actually there.
Tim swallowed, his grip on the card tightening. “Jason Peter Todd-Wayne,” he read, with obvious difficulty. Dick let out a startled laugh as he straightened up. He ran a frantic hand through his hair. “Fuck. Fuck!”
Tim stared at him. “This is… Jason’s old library card,” he pointed out and Dick nodded, perhaps a bit too fast.
Jason loses his old library card while on patrol as the Red Hood. He thinks nothing of it, as Jason Peter Todd-Wayne is legally dead to the world. In hindsight, he should have been worried, because his family are fucking detectives.
Or: How a lost library card ruins all of Jason's big reveal plans; and reconnects him with his brothers somewhere along the way.

Summary
Life is hard when you’re a street kid. It’s even harder when you’re also deaf. Though, Jason guesses that he’s not technically a street kid anymore, not since he’s made that mistake of jacking some billionaire’s tires and got himself kidnapped.
The man... Bruce, doesn’t seem to want to hurt him, though. He feeds Jason and goes out of his way to communicate with him. He even offered to teach Jason sign language.
There’s a price to pay, he’s sure of it, but Bruce remains as kind and nice as always.
