The room was silent except for Seungmin’s sharp breathing.
He stared at Minho, eyes shining with resentment, hurt, betrayal.
“Why are you like this?” he whispered.
Then, with a kind of pain that only comes from love turned sour, he said, quiet but lethal,
“I hate you.”
It echoed.
Minho flinched, barely noticeable—but Seungmin saw.
And maybe that tiny reaction pushed him over the edge.“I really hate you so much,” he whispered again, venom coating every syllable.
Minho opened his mouth. Nothing came out.
Seungmin stepped even closer until there were only a few feet between them. Until Minho could see every tear on his face.
“From now on,” he said slowly, voice sharp, steady, “I’m going to treat you the way you treat me.”
Minho stared, frozen.
“Now, you’re a stranger to me too.”

They don’t kiss—not really.
They fuck. On Minho’s couch, in Seungmin’s bed, in the kitchen, sometimes in the backseat of Minho’s car after late nights that leave them too drunk on each other’s presence to pretend they don’t want more.
But they don’t kiss.
Not really.
That was the unspoken rule. The line. The boundary drawn between pleasure and attachment, between now and never… although sometimes, they do look like a couple.
Minho is cold. Quiet. The kind of man who keeps people at arm’s length, whose eyes are unreadable even when he’s buried between your thighs, lips parted in a soft gasp. Seungmin never expected to get close to him. Never expected to stay.
But it’s been almost two years since they started this, whatever this is.
And a year of silence and skin and shared loneliness, of Minho pulling Seungmin into his arms after, when he thinks Seungmin is already asleep, of brushing Seungmin’s hair back, of cooking breakfast wordlessly, of holding his hand under the covers but never in daylight.
And Seungmin is so tired. So tired of walking of eggshells.

“Kim Seungmin,” Lee Minho says, or rather, demands (because when it comes to Seungmin, Minho rarely, if ever, says anything). “I love you.”
Hyunjin, who’s seated beside him on the sofa, chokes and starts coughing up a spit ball. Jeongin, on Hyunjin’s other side, lets out a strangled noise akin to a cat giving birth and loses his grip on the TV remote, which goes skittering across the floor.
Seungmin blinks, unsure if he should play along or inform Minho that he never agreed to a hidden camera prank, especially during off-work hours.
“Good evening to you too, hyung,” he finally says, choosing to do neither. “Can you hand me the remote?”

The male lead sweeps the woman off her feet and kisses her, and Seungmin holds his breath. “Oh, fuck.”Minho looks in his direction for a second, but he returns his vision to the screen immediately after. “Don’t cry,” he jokingly says.
“I just realized that I most likely have to kiss noona for my movie.”
Minho lets out a snort and laughs. “Yeah, probably. What’s the issue with that? You haven’t had your first kiss or something?”
His laugh soon dies down when he realizes that Seungmin was not laughing. Oh.

The room was silent again, but not empty. Something hung in the air between them, raw, quiet grief, maybe. A mutual ache. Maybe some things, once broken, aren’t supposed to be rebuilt.
Minho spoke once more. “Do you think we were ever happy?”
Seungmin didn’t answer right away. He glanced down at his hands; they were steady now, even as his heart pressed hard against his ribs.
“Sometimes,” he said. “And I’m going to keep those parts. The good ones. Just the good ones.”
