Summary
Alastor's curse in Hell is that it hurts to make connections. The touch of another sinner will burn and blister his skin; the hands of the ones he loves will never be a soothing touch, never a comfort, only pain.
So Alastor avoided touch, avoided friends.
Until the day Lucifer arrives, picks a fight with him and lays his hands on Alastor - and Alastor discovers that the Devil's hands do not burn him, do not hurt him. Touch starved and desperate, he chases after any kind of contact, whatever the risk may be.
(In which an asexual person writes our one canon asexual character and once again takes a ship only semi seriously)
Set during season one and branches off into season 2 as I watch it.

There's Sam. He is human, therefore, the objective target of Lucifer's hate - but with a twist. He is chosen and he can channel all that hate, he is a potential conduit if you will, and through that, he could actually have it all. But with another twist. He's a hero. A conflicted, gifted, strong, flawed, fascinating human being, with a lot of free-will and a lot of dumbness.
And then there's Nick, who's just some guy.

Nick likes to smile just so at him, when he sees Sam look at him like that. The smile he knows haunts Sam's dreams. The smile that means they're both in for a wild night.

For the first time after Lucifer's death, everything felt settled around the bunker. That was ignoring the nightmares. They plagued Sam with visions of red eyes and hellfire. It hadn't been this bad since the first months after he'd got his soul back.
Except, this time, the devil wasn't just in his head. Nick was living in the bunker, and despite his blue, human eyes, Sam couldn't help the dread that curled inside him every time he saw the man. But he was just that; a man.

Sam has started the Apocalypse and the guilt consumes him. He's broken by Dean's abandoning of him and wonders why he's still around.
Season Five Episode 3 (and the beginning of episode 4); I was having a lot of feelings about Sam's arc and how it relates to Dean. I did not finish episode four before writing, so it's canon compliant to the point of Sam calling Dean about Lucifer. After that, the stress gets to Sam, and he doesn't see the point anymore.

With everything stripped away, no sense of self, Sam realized that there was nothing else left inside.

“First time?” A man’s voice startled him. Sam turned to see an older gentleman with an inviting smile. Sam nodded. “It’s good you’re here, then,” the man said. “Good on you for taking the first step. Come on.” He held the door open. “In you go.”
Sam took a shaky breath and stepped inside. A dozen pairs of eyes flicked toward him, filled with curiosity and empathy. His skin crawled. How was he supposed to spill his darkest secret to a room full of strangers?
The man nudged him gently. “Each one gets easier,” he said. “Find a seat. You might not feel so alone by the end of this.”
Sam took a seat in the circle, the folding chair creaking beneath him. He felt too warm, despite the room’s chill, his body struggling to acclimate to this new environment. The others chatted and smiled, a stark contrast to his turmoil. It was too normal, too mundane, and for a moment, he wanted to walk right back out the door.
But he stayed. As much as he didn’t fit in here, he knew he didn’t fit in anywhere else, either. And maybe that was enough reason to be here.
or as Sam struggles with his demon blood addiction, he finds solace in a group of strangers when he feels hopeless and alone.
