On long windless days they drifted like balls of dandelion fluff, torn from their roots and slowly disintegrating, whenever Ginko raised his eyes towards the cityscape.

Or the night of Crepus' death Kaeya admits to a few things and the Tsaritsa watches as the love two twin candles share is snuffed out in the storm. Love is so precious, it's what keeps humans sane. Never has she had the pleasure of taking such a perfect form of love from someone, and it burns her deeply as Kaeya's heart and all its desires tumble toward her.
“I am not related to death little one.” She tells him with palpable heartache. "You do not get off that easily and for that, I apologize. I am sorry to have you shoulder the grievances of the world. Since you could endure my bitter cold, you must have the desire to burn.”

She turns to look at him, her face and body still shadowed, typical for a nephesh of Khaenri'ah. Today she took the loose shape of what seemed to be a small dragon.
“Have you seen anyone yet?” Tikvah’s voice whispers in his mind. Kaeya shakes his head, raindrops scattering from his hair. She huffs, curling tighter against his chest.

Summary
Zhongli is not afraid of death. There is no reason to be, not after he has ensured that Liyue is safe in the hands of the mortals. Not after he has given up his gnosis, his role of god. He could die now, if he so wished.
It would be preferable to what would happen, inevitably, if he lived another six thousand years. More than likely, it would take even less time--are there any among adepti or beast who made it as long as him with their minds intact?

“I’m not trying to pick a fight.”
“Well, great,” Diluc seethes. “Because I’m not, either.”
Kaeya chuckles, not bothering to look at Diluc. “Yes, you are.”
“I don’t even care enough to bother trying to fight with you.”
“You’re always trying to fight,” Kaeya tells him, and does not elaborate.
It’s not true. Like usual, Kaeya’s just talking out of his ass. Diluc is perfectly level-headed. Diluc is perfectly under control. Kaeya’s the one who needs to reign it in, who needs to get himself together, and Diluc would tell him exactly that—if he was looking for a fight. Which he is not.

When a simple mission in Dragonspine goes south and leaves Kaeya injured, it falls on Diluc to get both of them back home in one piece. If he manages not to murder Kaeya himself, of course.
