A threat looms. As usual, the leaders of nations have engaged the Traveler to address it.
…of course, once a certain Calvary Captain is involved, things get a bit more… complicated. If you ask Diluc, he’d probably be more inclined to call it “exasperating”
…it seems a rescue mission is in order. Whose fault that is, is beside the point.
In which Aether has no idea the degree to which the various forces which protect Mond are intertwined behind the scene; the Fatui are scheming again; Kaeya is better at it; and Diluc is over it.

Summary
The kumohami did not like smog. It thickened the water vapor and slowed down the rate at which the mushi could absorb cloud. Sometimes they became trapped and found it difficult to untangle themselves from the sea of smoke-sick haze. On long windless days they drifted like balls of dandelion fluff, torn from their roots and slowly disintegrating, whenever Ginko raised his eyes towards the cityscape.
Or: the one where Ginko's journey is a road-trip.

The story of why the weird grown-up doesn’t smile, why Master Jean tries so hard to be the best she and the knights could possibly be, and why Kaeya can’t get used to being lonely even if he’s used to being alone. And the story of how it begins to get better for them.
And it starts with: “Blackwater Operations Conclusion (December 25th Year 21) Diluc and Kaeya cheer up Jean while the knights set an investigation perimeter around the area. Varka came to scold them, after I took this photo, for moving around while sustaining injuries he says. As if these kids didn’t just sled off of headquarters’ roof last Friday – Alice”
