Ch. 2
His hair’s in a bun this time, low and loose at the nape of his neck, mostly it seems just to keep it out of his eyes while he’s bending over the gameboard and the geeky little figurines that cover it. The long sleeves of his shirt are rolled up to his elbows, and Steve’s eyes track the familiar scratches and scars that litter Eddie’s skin there for longer than they probably should. The game is in full swing — not that Steve has any earthly clue what’s happening in it — and Eddie’s softly grinning ear-to-ear as the kids all bicker over what their next move should be. He looks — He looks happy, even if Steve knows he’s gotta still be in pain and a little foggy from a minor dose of pills. He looks the happiest that Steve has ever seen him.
There’s this feeling in the pit of Steve's gut then. One that is, regrettably, all too familiar to him.

The seat squeaks, and Dean follows the sound, his gaze trailing down. There—where Jack sat moments ago—is a much tinier version of him. He looks mostly the same, just...smaller and more dimply and cuter, if that's possible. His clothes have shrunk to fit him, so he's casually sitting in a t-shirt, jeans, and scuffed tennis shoes. He swings his feet from side-to-side over the edge of Baby's seat the same way Sam used to in the back, and he stares up at Dean with clear eyes.
"Oh," Dean blurts out, eyes bulging, "Cas is going to fucking kill me."

They stay that way for a long time, Catra’s face tucked into Adora’s shoulder, Adora gently cradling Catra’s head. Adora is careful not to hug Catra too hard or make her feel restrained, anticipating the moment that Catra will start to pull away — but Catra doesn’t. She hangs on so tightly it hurts, her claws digging through Adora’s jacket and into her back, latching into her like she did when she was a kitten and didn’t know how much her claws could hurt. Adora tries not to wince, tries not to move a single muscle, worried that if she does the spell will break and Catra will struggle away, appalled at having shown weakness.
But Catra doesn’t let go. And so neither does Adora.

After being dragged back from the Empty Castiel tore down the many walls of Heaven, worked until he bled every second of every day to fix the management problems, helped build homes and place family members together, and recruited ex-hunters resting in Heaven to pull misplaced souls out of Hell. He even personally dragged ghosts out from the veil placing them into their rightful places in the afterlife.
For once, Castiel was making the changes he knew were for the best. Some might call him the regional manager of Heaven, a director of sorts, an angelic social worker at times. He wouldn’t, however, because that would be putting far too simple terms onto his rather complex existence.
And he did it all to avoid talking about his feelings.
