But here he was again, shiny and new, smiling at him, folding the ages they had been apart neatly underneath him as if his death had been a pause rather than an end. He looked so beautiful under the sun.

Summary
He thinks of it – of her - much more rarely now since the incident; he’s proud that it’s only a momentary shock that wracks him, and not the full-blown panic attacks of the few months prior. His therapist would be so proud; both of that, and the fact Gale's taking the initiative to seek out the tattoo artist - stepping out of his comfort zone in a way that means he’s ready to move on.
He just needs to work up the nerve to actually contact the artist, explain what he wants.
Finally free of his abusive relationship, Gale contacts local tattoo artist @IchorousInk to help him take the last step he's planned towards his recovery.

Astarion’s hand slid further up to curl into the soft blanket of chest hair, tracing his pec, then tweaking a nipple until it pebbled underneath the pads of his fingers. Gale remained still all the while, except for the smallest movement of arching into Astarion’s touch.
“It’s distracting.”
“I know.”

"When they made camp, Astarion had set up his newly-looted tent and sat down on a tree stump, wrapping his arms around one leg so that he could rest his chin on his knee. He made it look like he was participating in their scattered conversations around the campfire—scoffed when the others did, nodded at regular intervals, furrowed his brow when a voice rose in question—but his eyes were fixed and glazed.
Gale knew this routine well. He knew it especially from when he’d fallen into a nervous depression eighteen months after Mystra had taken him under her wing and lost all ability to eat. He’d spent hours listening to his colleagues debate, pretending to engage while his mind floated away in a gnawing fog of exhaustion and lack."

Summary
Every time, the tadpole squirms its way inside his head. Every time he is ‘saved,’ ‘seduced,’ and sometimes even believes it. This time feels almost real, different, as he drives the blade between Cazador’s ribs.
Astarion watches for the hundredth time as the people he has come to know unravel. Wyll loses self or sire, Karlach’s heart always burns too bright. Gale fakes a smile before he goes, insists it’s for the best.
He would have thought that he would be numb to the hurt by now, but still, it’s hard to watch.

Astarion’s floating head cackled from the window, soon becoming his shoulders and arms, and then the rest of him as he climbed into the room. “You should have seen the look on your face—”
“You know I hate it when you do that.” Gale fought to keep his voice even, gulping down the sudden dryness in his mouth.
