Summary

Wrecked with guilt about their secret former relationship, Jean volunteers to keep watch during the nights. As he and Reiner begin to grow close once more, well-kept secrets come to light and Jean has to decide whether he's ready to live for himself again or not.

“Reiner,” the man says, taking Jean’s hand in a firm shake.
Jean crosses his arms as Reiner starts up the truck again. “So, how do I know you’re not about to chop me up and bury me behind a barn somewhere?”
Reiner’s smile widens, faintly amused. “Guess you don’t. But I’m fresh out of axes.”
Jean snorts despite himself. “Comforting.”or: jean's car breaks down in the middle of nowhere. thankfully, reiner is there to save the day.

Summary
It was just his luck. The moment he finally managed to locate a farrier that could handle old Buchwald, the guy manages to get himself run down by somebody else’s horse, leaving Jean high and dry. He supposed that he at least should be grateful that the old man had referred Jean on to another farrier, but the problem was that the other guy was new, and Jean was a perpetual pessimist. On top of that, Jean had discovered that the guy was also one of those types who posted videos of his work online, and for some reason it had triggered Jean’s judgmental streak. Something about the guy, being way too hot, also had Jean questioning his skills for inexplicable reasons. Sadly, he was also out of options as all other farriers in the area flat out refused to go anywhere near his horse, and learning the trade himself was out of the question. So new, annoyingly hot, influencer type farrier it was.

Summary
“Marco,” and his voice is pleasant, in control, “get away from that bunk, please.” The request is polite enough but thick with threatened, primal violence, and to his credit, Marco stands his ground for a few moments, watching Reiner with narrowed eyes, subtly putting himself between the tall cadet and Jean. Bertolt watches this little development with interest, wondering how things will be affected later when Marco comes into his own, but then Jean lifts a hand and pushes on Marco’s chest.
“It’s fine,” he rasps, and lifts up onto his elbows, tilting his head back and inhaling through his nose, drawing in the alpha scent rolling off Reiner. “It’s okay, Marco.”
First heats are awful, or so everyone says. Bertolt knows that his own first heat had been pretty bad, but at least he'd had Reiner to help him get through it. Jean is the first omega to hit his heat cycle, though, and someone needs to do something about it before he drives everyone mad.

Reiner doesn’t react to his jabs. Unimpressed, he regains his composure and brings back the blade to his face, eradicating his stubble one stroke at a time. He has approximately four clean cuts on his jaw, and they’re leaking a lot of blood. This time, he drags the blade down his chin so carelessly that Jean gets actually horrified at the way his skin splits with ease beneath the razor. It opens like soft butter, and the blood glides gently the length of his neck.
