“It’s true.” Acheron doesn’t defend, only verifies, and they’re on the precipice of something greater. The sun sinks lower, molds to the weight of the conversation.
“I know, but as a soothsayer, I take a lot of words to tell the truth,” Black Swan replies, mouth crooked. She pushes Acheron’s bang away from her forehead. “You? You just…say it. Like it’s nothing. Sometimes I look at you and I swear I know exactly what you’re thinking.”
“Well, do you know what I’m thinking right now?”
Black Swan’s eyes dart between her own, line of her mouth softening, becoming something flowers bloom from. Black Swan has her metaphorical heart of a crescent moon, waxing and waning. Acheron’s the opposite, unobstructed and fierce.
“Yeah,” Black Swan murmurs. “But I’ll let you know my thoughts on it, in my own way. One day.”]

It would be easier to be worried about what Kafka's sudden appearance entails, if the mere sight of her didn’t irritate Himeko so much. She had grown a hunch, after undue visit number four, that Kafka’s sole enjoyment out of bypassing the security measures of the Express was getting a rise out of her.
