"Merlin's only human," Gaius says, heavily, "no matter the strength of his magic. And that will not change." // Or, the one where Arthur goes to the opposite extreme, and overestimates Merlin. By a lot.

    Summary

SEQUEL OF "The Royal Household Survival Code for the Preservation of the Physical and Mental Health of the Knights and Not-Knights".

Leon had been there when Merlin and Arthur had almost killed each other the day they met. He'd been there when Arthur had gone mad because Merlin had drunk poison for him. He had been there when he had found them in the middle of the night walking around the castle talking about 'poetry'. It had been there when Arthur had found out about Merlin's magic, and it had also been there when Arthur had become increasingly jealous and possessive of Merlin.

So, Leon had always been there, right?
Whether he wanted it or not. And often, very often, he didn't want to.
And now he had missed the one important moment, the one when it was worth being there.

It wasn't fair, it really wasn't.

    No, Leon was upset.

    Summary

Arthur has just become king and is not ready to get married. But as yet another Lady is announced to visit Camelot, the court comes up with an idea on how to get rid of suiters once and for all. Their plan works out - maybe a little too well...

"Actually", Gwaine said, tapping his fingers on the wooden table before him. "I know someone who can work their way around a dress."
Merlin didn't like the tone of this. Not at all.
He could feel the energy shift in the room. He could feel all their eyes slowly creeping towards him, pinning him down under their considering glances.
"No", he said. "No. No. I am not doing that. I am not-"

    Writing -
It’s the incredibly oblivious gay thought flow that does it for me

Arthur had heard of men, with very peculiar taste and curious ways of spending their free time, but Merlin surely wasn't one of them. He knew that some of these men took special interest in other men, in a way that one might take in a woman. Arthur could understand that to a certain level, because he could see what one might draw to a man. They were easy on the eye. In a different way, then women were, of course. But given a knight, for example, well trained, with broad shoulders yet slimber limbs, who you know had some strenght in him; or one of those noblemen, good mannered with well trimmed hair and nails, and soft skin and soft features, who walked all elegant and could charm anyone with their talk - there was something about them, Arthur couldn't deny that. Yet, he was fairly sure everyone felt that way. And he, personally, would never-

    Summary

But he had to, he had to, whatever they said of his father and whatever shame he felt in so marring his legacy. The deaths could not continue. Magic was not so rare as the nobility wanted to believe. At least a third of Camelot’s population were sorcerers, or had the capability to become so, an absurd number for a kingdom that steadily lost such kinds to execution and magical attacks. It was as though magic was being called here, centered in his kingdom, and he could not fight it any longer.

The Disir had given him a choice, and he stood by his answer. He’d gone in alone before them and left with a new vow.

Magic would be free, and Arthur would honor its gods.
