Wels, taken from his friends at the end of a war that didn't care about him at all, has been given as a gift (?) to the Starborne Empire. He doesn't know if that means he'll be killed, tortured, or put through some prolonged awful situation, but he does know it could be worse. The others will rescue him, eventually, as soon as they're safe. He just has to survive long enough--and maybe his new husband will help with that.

Summary
Xisuma is a construct--he’s got as much of a soul as anyone, though, and as many dreams for his existence as anyone. A different timescale than most, but, well, that’s alright. The End is a big place, and there’s a lot to experience. Especially if he can get to the Center Ring, with all the opportunities there.
There’s always the chance things will go wrong, but there’s so little for Xisuma as is that he’s willing to take that leap of faith. Whatever may come, he’s sure to come out the other side a changed person.
