Summary
Everybody knows that communication is necessary in a relationship of any kind. Only by communicating can those people truly express how they feel and open up about themselves to the other. To keep a relationship healthy and stable, communicating is the norm, regardless of what the topic may be. That's how he sees it in any way.
Lu Guang, on the other hand, think that it is not, which means he's unwilling to share what's on his mind, to share his feelings, to confront him if anything goes wrong, and knowing him, that habit's bound to cling to him like a parasite for another few years if he doesn't do anything about it.

You'd expect someone as close to him as Lu Guang to give at least the slightest bit of a reaction when he's told about the news. Even Cheng Xiaoshi would've thought so too.
It comes off as a surprise as first, how indifferent he is to everything, then it becomes just another thing that falls into his routine.
Who would've ever thought Lu Guang had this side to him?

He was left speechless, back then.

Now, he just wanted to hear him say those three words again.
Cheng Xiaoshi had only confessed his love to him once out of the many timelines he's lived through, and yet, it felt to him like it'd been so much more.
Who knows how many times he'd heard him say that by now? He still remembered how that kiss felt when it first happened, clearer than ever.

And Lu Guang— softens, just a touch. “No,” his thumb traces the handle of the mug as he says it. “Nothing else.”
And Cheng Xiaoshi has no choice but to believe him, even if only partially. He will allow himself this one small comfort.
