Caelus starts noticing that Dan Heng has become strange around him in a way that goes beyond his usual quiet protectiveness. He is always there, always watching, always tense whenever Caelus slips out of sight. What begins as confusion turns into something much more dangerous and much more tender when Dan Heng is finally forced to admit the truth. His Vidyadhara instincts have fixated on Caelus. Protective, possessive, deeply territorial, and humiliatingly affectionate, they keep driving him to gather pieces of Caelus close and build a hidden nest around the one thing his dragon mind has decided is most precious.
Caelus should probably be alarmed. Instead, he is fascinated. As Dan Heng’s control begins to fray, Caelus finds himself drawn deeper into the parts of him that are usually hidden away. Horns, scales, ancient instincts, quiet yearning, and all the soft terrifying want Dan Heng does not know how to ask for.
Or Dan Heng’s dragon instincts decide Caelus is his treasure, and Caelus reacts to that information with far less self-preservation than he probably should.

The musician opens their eyes slowly. Heng’s breath leaves him. He has never seen such pretty irises before; golden and vibrant. Erge’s eyes are of similar color, but it’s not quite as breathtaking as the musician’s. Heng needs a moment to regain his bearing, just in time as he hears their smooth voice from behind the veil.

In his defense, it wasn’t entirely uncommon to find Caelus digging through trash cans during the evening. After all, it was, oddly enough, his most beloved hobby. However, the odd part about this specific excursion was the fact that he accidentally fell into a trash can at the perfect angle and now he is rolling down a suspiciously long driveway while stuck inside it. As he rolled down the hill, picking up speed, he felt only slight disgust at the fact that both his favorite jacket and himself would definitely need a few washes after this, accepting his situation unusually fast. Sighing, he closed his eyes and waited for the slowing down of the trash can so he could make his escape and pray that no one saw-
CRASH.
The trash can came to an abrupt stop, causing him to bang his head on the side, which ricocheted a deafening ring inside his skull, effectively rendering his brain unable to function for at least 30 seconds. Groaning as the immediate pain settled down, leaving throbbing agony in its place, he noticed he somehow managed to get out of the trash can and was now lying on concrete facing up towards the sky… or maybe the ground? He couldn’t tell.
