After the death of Caine led to the destruction of their prison. Without the ringmaster the circus and its madness died with him. It may not be what Kinger wanted but deleting the sole AI that kept their reality functioning had released them. Expelling all entities that didn’t belong.
With their recent escape life had moved on without them.Now Jax was back, the life he was used to was gone. The childhood streets he walked a hundred times were unfamiliar. The worlds that unfeeling bundle of codes had created felt more real than reality itself.
Unlike Pomni who had only been virtualized for a year she would never understand that Jax missed the circus. Despite this Jax wanted to find his “friends” not that he’ll ever tell them he cared but to make sure they had escaped.
Maybe with Pomni’s help he’ll find his answers. He needed confirmation of what happened to the abstracted. He had to keep his promise to Ribbit.

Husk doesn’t return the feelings, and it’s very clear, so why would Angel even bring it up? He refuses to get hurt, so he deludes himself with fantasies and spends every possible second with Husk, willfully getting dragged deeper into the hellscape that is unrequited love.
Of course, Husk feels exactly the same way, and goes out of his way to prove it without actually saying anything, going so far as to give Angel his life back.

These two are really stupid, like Really Stupid, and it’s gonna take a damn good amount of time for them to get over themselves and just kiss already. Once they do though? It’s all they’ve ever wanted, and it’s a shame that the hotel walls are so thin.
