Summary
When a strange woman sometime in the 17th century tells Hob he's a High Priest, it doesn't take him all that long to figure out which God he serves - what else could his Stranger be but a God? That settled, he spends the next decades making sure their temple (the White Horse) is perfect, that his God knows Hob is devoted.
So when his Stranger doesn't show up for their 1989 meeting, Hob doesn't take it laying down. Instead, he uses all the knowledge he collected over the years to summon his God into his temple - thus, saving Dream from Burgess, albeit unknowingly.
What follows is a series of adventures as Hob joins Dream on his quest to find his tools. They may even discover something new about their relationship on the way.

“Jace!” cried the brown-haired boy, grinning sunnily at Jason. “You made it, finally!”
Jason returned the kid’s stare with far less enthusiasm and far more turmoil, though he attempted to conceal it. Wispy brows, shaggy hair, a spattering of freckles spread from cheek to cheek, and a roundness to his nose and jawline that would sharpen with age.
“… Peter?” he said cautiously and was rewarded with another toothy grin.
“Hi! You’re super tall now!”
Dick snorted and Jason shot him a glare. But he couldn’t keep his eyes away from itty bitty Petey for very long. It took the Bitsy nickname to a whole new level.
“I’ve always been tall,” he reminded Peter. “It’s just you’re even smaller than usual.”
On a routine patrol, Spider-Man and Spoiler are caught out by a new kid on the block. Now there are two more new kids on the block.
Jason is Not Pleased™️ with this development.

Robby was bristling as Jack turned back to him after closing the door behind them, doubtless understanding the same and not wanting to be trapped. Well, boo fucking hoo. -off to a great start i'd say🤙
"I wanted him to feel like he'd be helping me out."
"That just so happened to involve a very specific image of me," Jack pressed.
"C'mon, it's funny."
Jack let his lips quirk up. "Well, congrats, brother, you just left that kid with the impression that you're never coming back. Enough that he came to me, fearing your death,"
Robby shrugged, like this was no big deal, but his hands came up to rub the back of his neck. One of his tells.

even as Robby rubbed his hands over his face. Another one of his tells. -oh, to know someone enough to know their tells...Simple, clean, clear. All the things you are not."
Robby subsided a little, like the idea that Jack understood him took a weight off.
"I'm not having this conversation with you."
"What conversation?"
"The conversation I'm not having because I'm leaving tonight,"
"Okay. We're not having the conversation." Then he fisted his hand in Robby's scrub top, shoved him back into the shelves behind, and kissed him.
"Why are you joking about never coming back?" he asked, low. "Explain it to me."
Robby licked his lips and swallowed. "I don't know if I want to come back," he finally said, his voice hitching on it. He opened his eyes and finally met Jack's gaze. Facing it head-on now.
"To the Pitt?" Jack asked, not understanding the shape of this. He knew Robby was tired, yes. He knew he was traumatized and hurting and avoiding doing the work. He didn't know that Robby might be done.
But Robby confirmed that, nodding a little. "And maybe Pittsburgh."
Jack felt his eyebrows rise, the shock of that echoing through him. Robby was a hometown boy. He'd never thought he might leave leave.
