Addison smiled, bright and radiant under the fluorescents. She cupped his jaw with her palm while her thumb traced down the straight bridge of his nose. Her fingers were cool as they whispered over his unbruised cheek, impossibly gentle.
Zed stayed perfectly still, doing his best to hide how her touch was sending shivers down his spine. He was grateful she was so mesmerized by his fast healing that she didn’t notice him staring, drinking in everything about her, from her enormous blue eyes to the pastel bow in her hair. He’d been correct in his assessment that morning: this girl was sunshine incarnate.
Rewrite of their first meeting in the safe room, with a lot more dialogue and internal pining. My obsession with making DCOMs YA books should be studied. Sigh.

Summary
Victor leads a normal life in Shadyside. He goes to school, works at a music store, and dreams of moving to a more vibrant part of the city. The zapper made contact with his hand and Zed howled, reeling away so hard his back hit the ground. He clutched at his right wrist, half expecting to see it empty after his hand had exploded. Surely there could be nothing left after each skin cell was ripped apart. Zed cradled his hand close to his chest, his body curling in on itself. Laying on his side, he heard the crackle of the zapper from above growing closer and knew what was about to happen again.
“Please,” he croaked, but he didn’t bother to raise a hand this time, merely ducking his head.
“What the hell are you doing?”
When Zed has Bucky cornered under the bleachers in the first movie and gets zapped by the Z-Patrol, Addison does more than say "What are you doing? Stop!" She fights for him with everything she has. Even if it means risking her life.

Despite what the flyers promised—the Seabrook Academy for the Exceptional and Magically Gifted, a place for Mages and Monsters, yeah, apparently some Werewolves were going to be there too, to learn about themselves, their cultures, and each other, be amongst people like them—there were fewer seats open to Monsters themselves.
So, Zed did the only thing he could think of to guarantee a spot.
He applied as a Mage.
And it worked, he got accepted.
This would give him a chance more than anything he previously had in his entire life. A chance at getting a job and gaining housing for him and his little sister, Zoey.
Now, he has to make sure he looks the part.
