Summary
Lost, aimless, scared, angry. These are the emotions that have plagued Connor since his deviation, but he's learned to live with them, to control them. Now, working back at the precinct, back in his place as a detective, back as Hank's partner, a new case crosses his desk: Androids are going missing, only to turn up mutilated and destroyed. Connor is thrown into a whirlwind of investigation with death and danger at every turn. The more he finds, the more he feels his fragile control begin to slip.
Meanwhile, Dr. Clara Hayes, a human leader in an underground society of deviants fights to keep the peace in her small sanctuary despite the terror scratching at the door. As her androids begin to turn on each other and on her, she's forced back into a life she wants to leave behind, and in the process, she finds herself caught in the delicate balance between truth and deception.
A chance meeting throws the two into each others paths, leaving them with nothing to hold on to but each other. As Clara and Connor learn to work with each other, they navigate through a tangled web of secrets and lies, each determined to find their own solution, no matter the cost.

There is a rat dying in the corner of the subway, convulsing amidst a pile of garbage. There is a homeless man leaning against the wall nearest you. He has blue lips and chattering teeth, thanks to this years’ cold December draft. There is a beer bottle in the man’s right hand and an empty cup for change in his left. The man takes a sip from his beer bottle and the rat squeaks weakly amongst the discarded litter in what you assume are its last dying words.
Or,
Connor deviates earlier than expected and Hank is drowning in his sorrows.
