In the aftermath of their night together, Moiraine and Rand try to determine what it means for them, both individually and apart. Rand struggles to understand the depth of his feelings for Moiraine. She in turn attempts to decide what the relationship will look like in the future, as she was taken off guard by the sudden change. Lan just wishes he didn't have to feel any of it through the bond in the first place.

“But he is the Dragon! And I am to guide him!” Moiraine buried her face in her hands. “For twenty years I have known that that is how it would be.”

Who can say what they all can get up to, trapped in a renovated bus for hours on end?

Modern AU in the country of Andor, which is still a monarchy. Book backstory for Mat, so he has a good relationship with his parents. Mat felt stifled in the small town and wanted to see the world so at eighteen he ran away from home and joined the army. Guilt about running and fear of his friends reactions kept him from contacting anyone while he was away. Mat had a squad rather than a full army, and was fighting against a Whitecloak invasion. Afterwards he returns home and moves back in with his parents, longing for the simplicity and peace of his childhood. He’s hiding the scar on his neck and keeps the mental toll of the war to himself, but people notice he’s different. His younger sisters are away at the White Tower university. He’s working a job he hates at the gas station when Rand and the girls roll into town on their road trip; and they convince him to join them on the refurbished bus for the rest of it. Rand met all the girls at college and, after he broke up with Egwene, they all ended up together. They drive to Camelyn next and Elayne reveals to Mat that she’s the Queen’s daughter. Mat is shocked but treats it with good humor.
After witnessing Rand reuniting with Mat, the polycule agreed they’d be fine seeing if Mat fit with them, but Mat doesn’t know.
