And danger lies in every corner. Throughout it all, Clover struggles to keep his new friends together. Personalities conflict. Ideals differ. Past and present problems struggle to find resolutions.
In the end, it is not from without where the greatest threat to Clover and his friends lies, but from within.
Yet, despite everything, his friends stick by his side. And if they won't give up, then Clover can't, either. With the help of his newfound friends, and with his very soul shining bright with purpose and resolve, Clover knows he can find the answer that lies beneath the mountain…

Summary
Two years after Clover began their journey into the Underground and sacrificed themselves for Monsterkind, a new human, Samuel, arrives in the Underground, unknowing in that he is being pursued by an unseen force beyond comprehension.
While in the Dunes, Samuel comes across the Ketsukane Family, who unknown to him, have had a history with the previous two humans who came before him, Integrity and Clover. Thanks to the actions of the unseen force, Samuel and the Ketsukane's are forced together and isolated from the rest of the Underground, which for the latter, brings back old memories to the surface. This forces them to have to confront the past once again, with all of the guilt and regrets that come with it, while having to deal with their isolation and other unintentional consequences of their current predicament.
As for Samuel, with the events of what happened before his arrival in the Underground, combined with the mounting pressures of his current situation and being put in an even worse position that he's unable to deal with, he will need to try to get his life back together, with the only people he can reach out to for help being the Ketsukane's as they're all stuck together.

Summary
Clover's hands were sweaty. Consequently, their grip weakened and there was no escape.
Their worn shield dropping to the ground, Axis' weapons circling around in a circle, their breathing cutting off as the intense white light aimed at them from all their flanks.
No noise, no explosions, the bright light stops blinding them to disappear in an instant.
Pain explodes in their chest and Clover can't breathe.
Not a second later, an internal crackle makes them collapse.
[Or also, Axis kills Clover. Ceroba finds the scene.]
