Summary
The Unabridged Prison Journals by Catalina Cain is a sprawling and superb testament to the inner thoughts of the Capitol’s highest echelon during the Second Revolution, as well as the late stages of the Hunger Games. It’s without a doubt, one of the most consequential historical accounts that survived the war, especially due to both the nature of its author and its conception.
According to legend, Catalina managed to stay her execution multiple times by leaving her tales open-ended and too compelling not to hear more of, until she was eventually fully pardoned and exonerated due to the work of her friend and colleague, Plutarch Heavensbee.
How Catalina's (local disgruntled heiress) life got flipped-turned upside down and she went from a girl to an heiress to a rebel to a traitor to a breathing woman. There's bitterness, banter and betrayals. And Catalina gets to beat someone up. How the first official part of the Second Rebellion went down according to one bastard.

As a way to make the District's seem even more inhumane and seperate from the Capitol, the water supplies of Districts 1 through 13 were spiked with a radioactive substance developed in Capitol labs. If a person carrying a pregnancy was exposed to it, the fetus had a chance to be born with abilities beyond any normal child.
Every year, twelve boys and twelve girls with superhuman abilities are reaped to appear in an annual event called The Hunger Games. There is only one rule: kill, or be killed. When twelve year old Willow Atlas is reaped for the Hunger Games, she is expected to be picked off in the bloodbath, like a weed. They had no idea how poisonous a little weed could be.
