And that's how it all starts.

Neither does he inform Javert of his intent, for it requires no leap of imagination to imagine the man’s reaction: his wild words, perhaps an attempt to throw something. And so it is that, when Valjean steps into the room with a heavy basin of steaming water held in his hands—he had asked his housekeeper to heat it, and yet knowing the nature of Javert’s complaints, had insisted on bearing it up himself—Javert raises his head from the sweat-stained pillows which have become his prison these past weeks, curls his lip in distaste, and says, “You presume too much.”

Fill for kink meme prompt "Javert pulls a Fantine", but then expands into a massive second act of Valjean and Javert heading back to M-sur-M in an attempt to finish the work they started together years ago. Will they be able to find salvation?

Javert knew as soon as he had spoken those words to Jean Valjean that he sounded odd. If he sounded odd even to his own ears, to a man who had known him as long as Valjean, he must have sounded like he was speaking in a little-used foreign tongue.
To an extent, he was. Lying well required a comfort with deception that Javert had never possessed, and he had not miraculously acquired it even in this late hour, no matter how convenient it would have been for him to have done so.

Summary
Grantaire meets him at a party the guy was apparently dragged to by friends. They talk (fine, argue) for the better part of the night, and that would be it.
Except then Cosette meets Marius Pontmercy and while they are starting their Disney romance, Grantaire is dragged into the company of Les Amis and, most significantly, the company of Enjolras'. It's bound to go well (not).

“Right, okay, so.” Courfeyrac draws a sharp slash down the middle of the spare sheet of notebook paper, pencil lead pressing so intently that it nearly breaks. “Basically, if you use the three of us as a basis for judgment, the conclusion can be drawn pretty quickly that no one in detention should actually be here, but is instead just suffering from the gross limited views of the teachers and their desperate rules. Like martyr vigilantes or something."

“Yes.”
There’s the sound of movement as Combeferre unplugs his phone and settles back against his pillows. “And you, somehow—stupidly, I might add—decided to make her happy by agreeing to date someone?”
“Yes.” There’s a very pregnant pause. Enjolras curls and uncurls his hands into fists.
“Right,” says Combeferre. “We’re having this conversation tomorrow.” And then he hangs up.
