It's been months, at least, since anyone has seen the sun. If you asked anyone, they'd swear that even time started flowing weirdly after the Royal Nation and Golden Empire bombed each other to oblivion. The darkness felt alive in this dark, humid abyss, tempting anyone to just step in and never return to the scarce lights of lamps arranged within the mined out establishments of each respective side. Everything about this war yanked a sinking feeling in every grunt's gut, it was just far too unsustainable and yet nobody could set aside the hatred they had for each other. In this timeline, there was not a single man, woman, non-binary, child, or geriatric that had much more of a distinction aside from being a pair of boots and hands.
"Guy doesn't speak much huh? Makes you wonder what goes on in his head." Said a nameless Private, nudging his battle-buddy with the buttstock of his standard-issue Prince. "Some people don't even have inner voices, just nothing in their heads." Replied the other, eyeing the bloodied uniform that had grunted at them and started marching off. "He's leaving! Let's follow him and maybe learn something."
Silence.
"Or leave us to die."
