Nathan shot her a pointed look. "Sure. You want me to text via Ouija or...?"

A Haunted Hotel two-shot. It's a fun story set on Halloween night. It begins with Katherine trying to leave the Undervale to drop her kids off in town to trick-or-treat while Abaddon attempts to follow. He's stopped by a line of salt and told he needs to stay at the hotel because he misbehaved earlier.
During Ben and Esther's trick-or-treating, they encounter classmates who invite them to a party. Ben is eager to go, but Esther points out that the invitation is not genuine, since those classmates have treated him poorly before. This moment reveals Esther’s disappointment with the evening, especially since Abaddon was unable to join them and their plans for mischief have fallen apart.
I like this part because, Ben, very much a bleeding heart, feels bad for Esther and agrees to skip the party in favor of trick-or-treating more and spending time with Esther doing something that they both like. It's a really sweet sibling moment.
Meanwhile, Kathy is at a diner in town, trying and failing to relax. She's a bit worried about her kids, but mostly uneasy about her leaving Abaddon behind at the Undervale. After a while, she gives up on enjoying the quiet of the diner to go back to the hotel to see how things are going with Abaddon and Nathan.
By chance, Esther and Ben still end up at the party. While there, Esther walks in on some kids trying to perform a demon-summoning ritual. She takes over after insulting their set-up and summons Abaddon from Undervale.
As Esther causes trouble upstairs at the house party, Ben is trying and failing to chat with kids downstairs. At one point, he almost gets in a fight with another boy, Marco. It's only stopped by the power going out and Abaddon and Esther appearing. Abaddon jumps into the fight and saves Ben from getting a fat lip by attacking Marco.
This is when the police appear and when Abaddon attempts to lead the Freelings to safety, he instead takes them to a second-floor window only he can jump out because he can't die. This has to be my favorite part of the fic. I really love this bit:
Abaddon looked at the window, then the siblings, his expression unreadable.
Then he jumped.
…
The pair looked down at where the demon stood. He brushed himself off. Ben felt a spark of hope in his chest: maybe he could grab them a ladder or something?
The sound of skittering leaves interrupted his thoughts, and Abaddon was gone.
Ben turned to Esther, fixing her with a flat look.
“You know. I really hate him sometimes.”It's hilarious and timbercat is so on point with how they characterize Abaddon.
The first chapter concludes with Katherine reaching Undervale just in time to have the police drop off her kids and Abaddon traipsing through the cemetery on his way home after getting to cause some Halloween havoc.
The second chapter, and conclusion, is much shorter than the first chapter. It centers on Ben being woken from his sleep by Abaddon giving him a "gift" that turns out to be quite gruesome. It's interesting and I think brings a cool horror element to this Halloween tale.

“Your son.” She finished, and Nathan could almost see it. She would be grasping to sit down, or clutching her heart as if it, too, would fail her. “You have a son?”
After a moment, Nathan spoke. “Maybe?”
“And you didn’t tell me?”
“…No.” He collapsed into the desk chair, the old wheels squeaking and sliding underneath him. “I haven’t had him for that long, and he’s been having a hard time adjusting. I dont know, I’m just making up excuses.” He shook his head. “Are you mad?”
She hummed, thinking for a moment. “How old is he?” Which wasn’t an answer, but.
Nathan winced. “Uh, nine.”
“Thats a long time to keep a kid a secret.”
OR; Nathan tells a lie he is starting to get much too comfortable telling, and it leads him to taking Abaddon to Thanksgiving dinner

“Hard to say.” Nathan steps through the wall from the kitchen and takes in the mutilated deer corpse. “It wasn’t here when I went for my evening walk, but that leaves the whole night open for deer felling.”
Esther’s kneeling by the other side of the deer. “Doesn’t look like it was dragged here. And these claw marks are deep. Deeper than Abaddon can make with his clipped nails…”

This can be read completely independently, chapter's 1-9 are exactly the same as my original story, chapter 10 is mostly the same with just some minor differences at the end, forward it will be a different story with a happy ending due to popular demand. There is still a healthy dose of angst, jut, yk, it actually ends well. In the end notes of chapter 10 I will post what the differences in that chapter from the original if people coming from the original work don't want to reread it all

He didn’t want to be in the water either so he sat on the sand as he watched Esther and Ben splash around in the water.
