Machines screeched, crunched under tattered, filthy alien claws. Men cowered behind the corpses of their comrades, attempting to keep their trembling hands still as they aimed their weapons at the attacking creatures. Rouge let out a gasp.

This started because I was annoyed because of all of the concepts in Shadow the Hedgehog and the fact that they could run together so much better than they did, so I essentially streamlined the game into three possible stories. They don't have to be read in any particular order and don't need either of the others to be understood.

This story was named {Limited Edition} because it was limited to just a handful of characters. However, now that rule only applies very loosely, but I'm still keeping the name. The events contained in chapters 1-5 take place sometime in between chapters 20-28 of {Comic Edition}. Every chapter after that takes place sometime after the events of the Zone-Hopping arc.
I created this story in 2017 so I would be able to continue writing while the main series stories are in the middle of important plots. I quit needing this story for about four years, but then suddenly, in 2021, I started adding to it again. Over on Wattpad, you can still read the first three chapters if you care about them (spoiler alert: you don't), but here on AO3, I'm just going to publish chapters 4-onwards since they are the only ones that really matter to the current-day stories. Therefore, chapters 4, 5, 6, 7, etc. are actually 1, 2, 3, 4, etc. here in this story.
