Summary
It’s been almost 100 years since Order 53 freed the herbivores from servitude, and almost 200 since the end of the War of the Species, the first herbivore revolt.
And yet, since then, progress has stalled. Herbivores may be technically freed, but they still lack many basic rights, living as second-class citizens. Instinct-driven violence against herbivores is legally protected, and many live in fear that the next day may be their last.
Meanwhile, carnivores live in high society. They eat meat, dominate the country's politics, and rampantly discriminate against the subjugated herbivore population. The equality movement has hit a wall, and meaningful change feels more out of reach than ever.
So who would've thought... that it'd be the sons of a local teacher, and a speciesist politician, who would bring the entire system crashing down?
(A hopepunk story about Louis and Legosi fighting for equality and changing society, with inspiration taken from the Noughts and Crosses series by Malorie Blackman)

Breakups are a part of life for many, a sad truth that happens from time to time. But Legosi didn't expect it to happen between him and Haru. It seemed the lack of communication and the sudden marriage proposal from the wolf was too much for her, and she decided to take a break. Legosi didn't take it well, becoming catatonic for the most part. But something soon takes his attention, as he finds out Louis is the new leader of the Shishigumi. Wanting to make sure the deer was safe (and also think of something else), he makes it his mission to protect Louis, no matter the cost.

Legoshi didn't exactly think this was how he would see Louis again, but that doesn't mean he's not happy to see him. All Legoshi wants is Louis back, but doesn't understand why his senpai won't join him.
Legoshi finds himself beaten by the Shishigumi and then put face to face with their boss, his senpai, Louis. In order to get answers, the Shishigumi bring Legoshi to a restaurant that is considered a neutral zone. They ask him questions and soon, Legoshi gets to have his conversation with Louis about... everything. Sure, he did lie to the Shishigumi, Legoshi understands why that might bother Louis, the old lady with the cookies was odd and beating up the people Louis just said were his family was kind of a dick move for Legoshi to make, but why can't Louis understand how much he means to Legoshi.
Oof, what were in those cookies? The world is shaking and spinning and something doesn't feel right.
Beastars meets Freaky Friday. Legoshi and Louis go on a personal journey full of mistakes and attempts to understand each other, all while trying to navigate the world in a body that is incredibly different from their own.

Bill had never been the type to keep his mouth shut. Everyone knew how brash he could be (especially Els) and how he bragged about the most mundane things. But now it hurt to talk. Not physically, no, but mentally. It's even worse that he now had new striped scars on his face.
It wasn't a secret he regularly went to the black market, pretty much all the animals in the drama club knew that. Perhaps the only thing keeping that secret within the clubs walls was the fact it was such a taboo topic. No one liked to dip in those waters.
Again, he could barely speak, and when he did it was filled with stutters like he was speaking parables.
He hadn't really talked to anyone in the club for the past couple months. The closest thing he had were the letters he'd received. There's one he hadn't opened yet. Stamped red. Marked, with a pair of horns.

After settling upon the decision to test the waters between carnivores and herbivores, things at Cherryton Academy turn far more tense than they already were. Unsurprisingly, there are those who poke fun at these changes, both with good and bad reasons at hand. Calling the academy out on such high of a risk's understandable, but mocking carnivores for making friends with their opposites isn't.
Having been sheltered through seventeen years of homeschooling and the rigid rule of never going out at night, you far from expect being allowed to attend there after your eighteenth birthday. Regardless, you don't intend to cower back. Your want to expose yourself to the real world, meet different people, and live through new experiences outweighs that fear, transforming it into strength.

30 years ago, the Sublime Beastar put forth a military draft to control healthy male carnivores of sufficient size. The Shishigumi work for Oguma as conscripts for his personal guard. But Louis is about to start working for Horns, and the government insists he takes on a carnivore bodyguard of his own - a 'partner.' Louis bitterly takes on Legosi. Louis and Legosi have to work through their messy, complicated feelings, to figure out how this relationship is actually supposed to work - and also how Louis really feels about carnivores in general.
(TLDR: A hopepunk take on Louis and Legosi dramatically changing society for the better and gaining a whole extended lion family in the process.)
