Max Verstappen is new in the grid.
Max doesn’t want to go to his hotel room. He knew what was waiting for him.
When Max arrived in his room Jos was already there. Waiting. He didn't look up “That's what you call a race?” Jos hissed “You couldn't even make it to the finish.” He opened his mouth to explain- the engine, the smoke, the failure that had nothing to do with him-But Jos was already moving.
A sharp cuff to the side of the head sent Max recoiling, more from the shock than pain. It wasn't hard. Not yet. But it was enough. "Sainz beat you. Maybe he is the real talent." Jos turned and left, slamming the door. The teen let out a breath he hadn't realized holding.After five minutes his phone rang. A message from Carlos.

Summary
The sight before Lewis was painfully similar to the one he had walked into only days earlier in Logan’s Driver’s room – except this time, they had settled on a comfy couch (instead of a stiff massage table) and neither driver was wearing so much as a stitch of teamwear, much less their racing suits.
Oscar looked up as Lewis padded into the room, but Logan didn’t stir even as Lewis moved to crouch in front of the pair. Unable to restrain himself, Lewis gently brushed a few stray blonde locks off of Logan’s face, noting that his cheeks were once again covered in dried tear tracks. A quick glance up at Oscar revealed that the Australian was in much the same state as his American counterpart, albeit awake.
Lewis had a sinking suspicion that he knew where this was going, but…

Any driver would say that the 2023 season had been far from easy. Even Max, for all he was experiencing the soaring highs of a record-breaking season, was feeling the strain of 22 races across several months, all around the globe.
It had been a long and taxing season for all of them, so Lewis hadn’t exactly been surprised to hear that not just George, but Esteban, had finally succumbed to illness in the leg of the season.

Summary
Usually, Charles didn’t mind Lewis’ tendency to be everywhere except Monaco during their down time. Mostly because if he asked – or if they made plans – Lewis would be there, so it wasn’t as though he was unreachable.
It was just… Charles hadn’t exactly predicted this particular emergency, and now he was in Maranello, Max was in Tokyo, and Lewis was in New York. So, Charles was alone with a – really – very small problem. As in, the problem fit in the palm of his hand and wasn’t so much a problem as he was the greatest thing that had ever happened to Charles.
Thankfully, Lewis picked up his call on the second ring.

Summary
Initially, Charles wasn’t too worried. He knew that Max had been Sim Racing the previous evening; it was why Charles hadn’t crashed at his place as he often did (when they had time off or plans the next morning), instead returning to his own apartment for the evening.
So, it was logical – if not expected – for Max to be running a few minutes late.
But, as a few minutes turned into 10, then into 20, Charles became increasingly stressed, smiling tightly at the organizers of the padel event that he and Max had agreed to play in, assuring them that Max must be on his way.

Summary
Logan couldn’t help the way he shifted nervously from foot to foot as he hovered awkwardly just outside of the Mercedes motorhome. He’d been lingering long enough now that surely someone had taken note of his presence – admittedly, the motorhomes were closer together in Miami than in, say, China – but no one had raised any issue yet.
Likely, the Mercedes crew was more than accustomed to drivers coming and going, if Lewis’ assurances were to be believed, but…
Logan still couldn’t bring himself to just walk into the building.

And the car is fucked, but there’s only on chassis, so Williams had been meeting for hours. Logan was supposed to ride home with me, but he told me to go on ahead, except now he’s not answering calls and Alex says he won’t leave his Driver’s Room and I’m not there and –”

Summary
Lewis sighed as he dropped his bags in front of the door to his Monaco flat. He was late – later than expected – getting back to Monaco after the season finale in Abu Dhabi. He expected to find the apartment empty – he wasn’t supposed to pick Roscoe up until the morning, and it wasn’t like anyone else lived in his flat during his prolonged absences.
All that to say that Lewis was surprised to find the lights on – and even more surprised to see Roscoe wiggling his way out of the living room to greet him, happily panting and rubbing up against Lewis’ pants.
