This story uses the original material as a blueprint to create a mostly canon-compliant tale that is separate, yet connected to the main series. Copious usage of Original Characters, to the extent that they make up most of the main cast. Scarce romance as this is only the first installment in the series. Hints and implications may ensue, however.
