It started with an offhanded comment from John, "Stay here and behave like a good boy."
With quite a few lanterns on Oa. John had found himself going over plans when he'd summoned Hal to come join him. Wanting to discuss some ideas with him and coming together to consider their options. A conversation that had started off well enough but devolved into a back-and-forth petty argument. If they took a step back, they could probably see each other's points of view.

After going at it with Hal in a small, enclosed room. John takes a step back so that he doesn't lose his temper. With things as they are, and all the lanterns stretched thin and stressed, tensions are high. John does something unthinking, keeping Hal restrained in that room but he returns to find something he didn't foresee.
