It’s been three full years since Noah García arrived in Pelican Town. Moonstone Farm is the pride of the valley. The community center is repaired, JojaMart is gone, the movie theater is up and running, regular ferries travel to and from Ginger Island, Pelican Town thrives. Everyone loves him. He’s the town hero.
He’s so bored.
There’s no challenge in anything anymore. It comes too easy. He wants something new – anything.
Then one day a letter arrives with no return address. And nothing will ever be quite the same.

Stardew Valley could not seem to stop buzzing about their expected new townie - the granddaughter of the old man who'd let his farm fall to pieces. Rumors were flying wild before she even arrived, discussing their expectations for her appearance (Would she look like her grandfather?), to how she would act (She probably won't get the farm running again. It's too much at this point!).
But the new farmer was determined to live up to her grandfather's legacy, when the farm was in its prime. It's becoming really hard to focus on her work with the cute writer that lives on the beach, though.

The being, the life of a character -- and our life-as-character -- begins with the start of the story, the agreement *to be there*. The beauty of it in these contexts is that (unlike with actual life) we have a choice.
"Let's say," we say as children, or "let's pretend that --" and the reality unfolds from there. We're thrown into it. We become elves battling orcs, we become fighter pilots in spaceships, we stop being observers, just an audience to the story, to the hero's epic adventure, but instead step into it. Fling ourselves in.
