“What do you like?”
The octarian soldier style is a lot of shiny, tight greys and blacks, with accents of purple and red, but how much of that was an agreed-upon choice and not just Octavio’s…tastes is questionable. She wonders what the civilian aesthetic is when they’re out of his grip.
There’s a long stretch of quiet (or, rather, as quiet as it could be in Jelly Fresh with the Squid Sisters shouting in her ears), as the question seems to stump her entirely. Her head tilts the way it does when she’s in deep thought, and she’s fidgeting in place. Something apologetic rises up on her face as she straightens herself out.
Finally, she ekes out an, “I don’t know.”
Internally, she’s stunned. Are the other soldiers like this when they’re left to their own devices?
Today is Eight's first big day on the surface.

Three shot up, wide awake, in the middle of the night. She looked around in a cold sweat, checking for anyone who could be nearby, but stopped once her eyes laid upon the octoling sleeping next to her. Three sighed and laid back down, snuggling up against the octarian.
She woke up from a nightmare she had about when she was previously an agent of the Splatoon, rather than the captain. About how she once fought the octoling that now laid next to her, peacefully. It was a time where nobody knew that an octoling could change. A time of, dare say it, racism and segregation.
The Octarians weren't bad, Cuttlefish was just racist because of the war
