After an adroit display of skill at a regional Gungi competition, Komugi is offered a golden opportunity to enter the annual Hunter Exam: a week-long, famous international Gungi tournament. The best players from all across the continents will gather in Yorknew City for a battle of game and strategy towards the invaluable prize of honor.
When she accepts, she doesn't think she will get very far — she is, after all, just Komugi. She certainly doesn’t expect to go toe-to-toe with another young prodigy, whose interest in her expands beyond Gungi talent, and fight him for first place in the world.
