Summary
It was a story so well told even a child could repeat it back to you. A rumour so well-trodden a newcomer would have heard it at least ten times by the time he got to the counter of the bar. But even well-known tales have their embellishments, their over exaggerations, and Karl knows this very well. He’s dug through his fair share of rose-tinted myths before, but nothing quite like this.
For the most part, Karl’s work has been in falsehoods. Cotton-candy clouds spun into webs of lies that only grow, each new spider adding a twist here or there. But this time, he realizes as he stares down at the castle from his hill, this time it’s real.
