Sans doesn’t open his window after the first rock. Nor the second, nor the third. No, it takes a whopping total of six pebbles thrown his way before he finally takes the hint, opening the window and sticking his stupid skeletal head out.
“‘Scuse me?” He mumbles, bags underneath his eye sockets. He looks down, brow crinkling with confusion when he spots Chara. “Kid? It’s three AM, the heck are you doin’ here?”
They make eye contact, and Chara has to stop themselves from flinching away. It’s a gaze you just can’t hide anything from. And thank the lord, it only takes Sans about five seconds before he gets it.
“Oh,” He says. “You’re not Frisk.”
(OR: In which Chara obtains Frisk's body and soul after a No-Mercy route, but can't quite seem to muster the anger they once had. So, they turn to someone else instead.)

Do you think he’s afraid of us? they ask eventually, breaking the silence. Then, after a beat, Of me.
Annoyed, you bite back, I thought it didn’t bother you when people were afraid of you.
He’s the only monster who knows of a reason to be afraid of me.

And with it so soon being a year since our freedom, a…celebration, of sorts, has been proposed. There is so much Surface that so many monsters have never seen. And now that we are no longer contained, we have thought that perhaps the best way to celebrate this would be for monsterkind to leave the mountain, for a while. See everything that has been kept from us for so long.”
Chara goes tense-kinda in their mind. But Frisk only sort of notices ‘cause they’re putting Momma’s words together, and jumping up to their feet, and shrieking, ‘cause they got practice from all the singing, “ROAD TRIP??”
Momma laughs. “Yes, Frisk. Sort of like a very big road trip.”
(Frisk, Chara, and Flowey go on a road trip across the country, and Frisk is determined to ensure Chara enjoys the trip, no matter how distant their brainfriend might be.)

Summary
My version of Flowerfell. Frisk, Chara, and Flowey are the main focus because I think this friendship has a (skele) ton of potential that's sometimes overlooked.
I will not be shipping Frisk, Chara, or Flowey with anybody, including each other. In this story, Frisk is seven, Chara is thirteen, and Asriel/Flowey is twelve. I will include a few scenes of Sans x Grillby, and I may include Papyrus x Mettaton, but I'm not sure.
There will be angst, and a closer look at how Frisk's health would be affected by buttercups growing out of their skin. If you don't know what that would entail, please do research before reading. Saying that it isn't pretty would be an understatement.
There will be fluff and fun and shenanigans, it isn't JUST angst.

Frisk (formerly homeless) falls into the Underground looking for a volcano with lava. They have learning delays and cant read or speak.
Chara wakes up with them and discovers their own death. They are sad but also enthusiastically helpful towards Frisk. They are gradually teaching them some sign language. Flowey joins the mix and helps as well. He warns not to meet Toriel. Chara is very concerned about their mom. Last they saw her she was doing better.
Flowey finds out about Chara when Frisk finger spells their name.
