Summary
“I’d do anything for you, you know that.” Karl decides on saying. And the words fall out of his mouth in a way that’s too fond and too true to be platonic. He knows Quackity probably knows a lot more than he lets on, Karl has loved him for five years and it would be impossible for him not to know. Karl hates himself for making it so obvious and he hates Quackity for not just rejecting him already and he hates the fact he was doomed from the start.
Quackity just smiles in that way he did sometimes, the smile where his eyes would crinkle at the sides, the smile Karl only saw in moments like this; where he’d give the world for Quackity and destroy it for him all in the same breath.
And god, did Karl love him.
OR: Karl, Quackity and Sapnap are roommates who happen to be a little bit (a lot) in love with each other; they also happen to be totally clueless about it. they also accidentally got married? They are idiots. and they love each other. that is the entire story.

The outfit is simple, in a good way. Just a dark blue long sleeve waffle shirt and some plain black pants (either joggers or jeans, Karl can’t be too sure), accented with the silver chain around his neck that’s pulled out against his chest.
The jewelry glints in the old yellow light, drawing his eye back up to the way the shirt fits on his shoulders, falling nicely against his frame. All together with the seemingly well kept scruff on his face, the neighbor looks... actually, he thinks, his neighbor is kind of hot.

And according to Quackity, because Karl hasn’t murdered him yet, that makes him trustworthy enough to talk to. But Karl thinks it’s just the alcohol lowering Quackity’s standards. Then Quackity tells him all about how he just broke up with his boyfriend, Sapnap, after a big argument they had earlier today and then had to get a new hotel room which is why he’s here alone now and half drunk.
“I’m telling you all this so you understand I’m not normally this messy,” Quackity explains. “I wanted to leave tomorrow, but all the flights out of here are booked until the day after.”
Karl nods, not sure what to say. He has no experience with romantic relationships, outside of the ones he’s read in books or seen from a distance during his work on the timeline.
But at least Karl has context for the vision of the argument he saw from bumping into Quackity earlier.
“Why are you here by the way Karl?” Quackity asks with pointed interest.
“Oh me? Well, forced vacation from work. I’ve heard only good things about the library here, so it seemed like a decent enough place,” Karl tells him.
Quackity laughs, showing the first signs of true joy since Karl met him.
“You’re a workaholic too?”
“I guess you could call me that. But I love my job, so it doesn’t really feel like work y’know.”
Just thinking about the timeline is making him miss it. If he's asking though, Karl thinks Quackity has a job that makes him feel the same.

Sapnap and Karl stay together as they pick flowers that instantly grow back as soon as they’re pulled out of the ground. There’s a magical quality in the soil that keeps the flowers always healthy and in bloom.Karl quickly sends Quackity a text, asking him what his favorite flower is. And when he hears that it’s forget-me-nots, Karl smiles knowing how much of a romantic that makes Quackity.

"I am too. Also, I have this for you," Karl hands him a small bouquet of forget-me-nots."Karl, is this why you texted me about flowers?" Quackity asks as his face goes pink.
"Well-"

"Oh, Sapnap," Karl says before pulling out a second bouquet of bright red tulips. "I got you some flowers too, even though you probably already have enough from the fields."Karl thought it'd be weird if he only gave Quackity a gift.
Sapnap looks at his flowers, then to Quackity's bouquet, and then back to his own again.
"You're so sweet Karl," Quackity smiles at Karl and it feels almost like the way he was smiling at Sapnap just before, full of soft emotions. But surely it's just hopeful thinking.
"Yeah, thanks Karl," Sapnap says, and Karl thinks Sapnap is also giving him a more than platonic look.
Whatever is going on, it's going straight to his head and Karl needs a second to himself.
