Henry aka Subject 001 finds himself advertently drawn to college student Terry Ives, who is taking part in MKUltra experimentations under Dr. Martin Brenner's close supervision at Hawkins Laboratory. Temptation leads to involvement and eventually, Henry becomes even more desperate to find a permanent way out for himself using a pregnant Terry bearing the special child who will someday save the world, but Brenner's very controlling clutches and obsessive nature for the both of them, especially her, make it rather difficult to break away from his created world of captivity.

Just as he felt bile rise up in his throat, a tap on his neck released him from his misery, and he fell on his knees, throwing up until he choked on his saliva and tears. He had never seen himself from another point of view, never saw how harsh, how aggressive he truly was. How terrifying he truly was. He was a monster.
‘‘please, please no more, please I’m sorry, I’m sorry, no more..’’ he kept apologizing as if it would change a damn thing. As if it would change what he did, what he was. ‘‘H-how ? What do you want from me?’’ he asked, drained of any fight, any defiance.
‘‘Oh Billy...don’t cry. You can still make up for everything.’’ a wave of cold hit him and he held himself back from shivering. ‘‘If I said that you could...change things, destroy and save everyone..’’ he continued his walk, glancing at him as he was still on his knees, getting himself up. ‘‘Would you make me a deal ?’’

It doesn’t help that Eddie seems to hate his guts. Or maybe he just doesn’t care enough to give Steve the time of day, or maybe he thinks Steve doesn’t care enough to give him the time of day. Which might have been true a year ago, but it’s April of ‘85, graduation is a few months away, and Steve has gone through at least three near-death experiences with an alternate dimension at this point, so sue him for thinking this isn’t as out of his depth as Eddie must think it is.
If he can fight monsters, he can seduce Eddie Munson.
Or, at the very least, get his attention.
